about

“I believe we can change the world. But first, we’ve got to stop living in fear of being judged for who we are.”

Rachel Hollis has seen it too often: women not living into their full potential. They feel a tugging on their hearts for something more, but they’re afraid of embarrassment, of falling short of perfection, of not being enough.

In Girl, Stop Apologizing, #1 New York Times bestselling author and founder of a multimillion-dollar media company, Rachel Hollis sounds a wake-up call. She knows that many women have been taught to define themselves in light of other people—whether as wife, mother, daughter, or employee—instead of learning how to own who they are and what they want. With a challenge to women everywhere to stop talking themselves out of their dreams, Hollis identifies the excuses to let go of, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to growth, confidence, and believing in yourself.

Lifestyle expert Rachel Hollis is the founder of the popular website TheChicSite.com and is the CEO of Chic Media. She is a regular contributor for HuffPost and PopSugar, and she has appeared on Today, Rachael, The Talk, Extra, and many other programs. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and four children.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Repetitive It was ok. I previously bought Girl, wash your face and fell in love with the book. Naturally, I bought this as soon as it was out but was disappointed with how repetitive it was. Also, she was forever speaking about her life and everything she accomplished, which is fine, until a certain point. It's supposed to be motivational- it felt more braggy. I also read the two books one after the other- Maybe this was one of the reasons it felt dragged on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Redundant Dont waste your time or money. If you've read "Girl, Wash Your Face", you've read it all. Author couldn't even come up with a fresh new title. Everything is a repeat. Can't blame the woman for capitalizing on her success and trying to suck more dollars out of her popularity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Perfect inspiration for white women with $$$$ The author gives advice from her perspective, but does not take into account the many reasons that someone else may be in the position that they are in. This woman’s brand is white feminism plain and simple. If you fit into her market this book my be helpful or inspiring, otherwise leave it on the shelf.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Girl, Save your money Seriously. This book has received so much hype that is unwarranted. It is equal points humble bragging, and equal points common sense. Would not recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Inspiration for All Women I went into this one a little skeptical, as I had heard mixed reviews of Rachel's first book and I am not generally a proponent of religious categorized books, however loosely. But this turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me. The book is upbeat, positive, motivating and offers tangible and realistic steps for women to work towards embracing and then chasing their personal goals. I really enjoyed Rachel's writing style, and her references back to her own life, successes and failures. While I would say that not every part of this book is going to resonate with every reader, I do think every reader can find areas of value in here that can be easily applied to their own lives. There are concrete pieces of advice for skills to develop, behaviours to embrace and excuses to give up. Truthfully it was the perfect book to kick off my new year as I feel more inspired than ever!
