When a charming polar bear cub climbs into bed one night, she asks her Mama a very important question--one that little "human cubs" often wonder about, too: "Where did I come from?"

As Mama bear tucks her youngest cub under the quilts, she gently, tenderly, and reassuringly communicates the message loving parents everywhere (bears and non-bears alike) want their little ones to hear: "We wanted you very, very much, and we are so very glad because—God gave us you."

Perfect for bedtime, naptime, storytime or anytime, God Gave Us You provides a valuable opportunity to build children's self-esteem every day and assure each one that he or she truly is a welcomed, precious, and treasured gift from the Lord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made me cry! Love it! When I was looking to buy a book for my friend's baby shower, I couldn't decide which Christian book to get her... I read a few, and then when I read this one, I knew it was the one right away! It is well written and very special. I was tempted to buy a second for myself... but didn't, hoping I would get a copy for my shower, and I did! So thankful and read it to my son often! Can't wait until he understands what it all means (he is only 2 months old now).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! My son loves having me read this story to him. It's a beautiful story introducing young ones to the concept of their birth and how desired and longed for they are. I just bought another copy for a baby shower gift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it We received this book as a gift for my daughter on her baptism. It has several very sweet messages including how she came to be and the love we have for her and how she is here because God loves us. Would highly recommend especially as a baptism gift.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Story We got this for our daughter and liked the story. I would caution that this is intended for a first born child as there is a line about the parents being alone previous to the child arriving. There are a few lines that skew a little childish, but overall a nice book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A nice little book for any small child I received this book through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review. God Gave Us You is a richly illustrated board book with artwork that depicts the tenderness between parents and their baby. This book is just the right size for small hands. Its sentiment is comforting and clearly stated for a child to understand. As mother bear is tucking her little cub into bed one night, she is asked the question most children ask at some time, 'Where did I come from?' Mother Bear answers, 'From God', and then goes into just enough detail to settle the question without it being information overload. The author's approach in how she has mother bear answer that age old question is both satisfying to a young mind and assurance of being loved. The mother talks about her pregnancy in a comforting way and shows the eager anticipation she had for her baby's arrival. 'Every night I prayed for you, my special child.' The oft repeated line, 'God gave us you', is early encouragement that the child's life is known by God who loves her. This is such a lovely book that a very young child can enjoy. It would be a thoughtful addition to a baby shower gift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Board Book! Our family really enjoys the whimsical God Gave Us series by Lisa Tawn Bergen. Spiritual concepts are simply explained with comparisons to every day situations. God Gave Us You is the first book in the series, and this board book edition for toddlers is the first time we’ve read it! Addressing simpler and more concrete subjects than the other God Gave Us books that we have read that deal with topics like heaven, diversity, and love – God Gave Us You answers the always popular question, “Where did I come from?” This very child-friendly explains how Little Cub’s mother and father were lonely, how they rejoiced when they learned that Little Cub was growing inside of Mama Bear, how her belly grew, how she went to the hospital, and how Mama finally met Little Cub in person. The descriptions are all so sweet and completely age-appropriate for toddlers – there isn’t anything really explicit to be found here. This warm, lovely story is a perfect first introduction to pregnancy and would be a great choice for a child who is expecting a new sibling or wondering how they came to be. As always Laura J. Bryant’a art work is soft, colorful, and charming. You can’t go wrong with this one! Reviewed at quiverfullfamily.com

God gave us you.”“When we found out you were growing inside me, we were so happy! Even the angels were celebrating for us!”“Because of me?” asked Little Cub.“Yes, my darling child. Because God gave us you.”
