Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Exquisite Read! Arkady Renko is the Chief homicide investigator in this lovely trade paperback from Ballantine – the 7th printing since its copyright in 1981 - and the next best thing to reading it in hardcover. This thoroughly researched novel is global in its scope which not only reveals life in contemporary Moscow but provides its characters and locations with authenticity and richness. Martin Cruz Smith dazzles with the characters he has created, the lives he has given them and the background he has provided for his intricate plot. Could not put the book down!
