about

Grasping Men’s Metaphors is a journey through a maze of beliefs constructed over millennia by the poet and the pornographer with the same tools: language and image. From the frame established by the opening section, through parodies of literary pretentions, poses and poseurs, Grasping Men’s Metaphors moves towards a dramatic re–examination of the uses and meanings of myths and sybmols.

Sharon H. Nelson’s first book of poems, A Broken Vessel, was published in 1972. Her sixth, The Work of Our Hands, was shortlisted for the 1992 QSPELL A.M. Klein Poetry Prize. Her poetry has been widely anthologized, and her essays about gender and writing are often reprinted. She lives in Montreal.
