Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot praise enough! Bought the first book in this series, then promptly bought the rest, and a box set for my grandson. We both love this continuing story. Suzanne Collins is a talented storyteller with a wonderful imagination and a very accessible writing style. Highly recommended for the young and not so young too. I keep hoping she will add another book or two to this series. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing!! A must read!! These books are so real. When someone is sad you actually feel their pain, because you have gotten to know them so well. After all of the books you actually feel connected to the characters, and think that they are somewhere out there, living their lives just like we are. There are not many books that can make you feel like you are going through the same thing as them, and that you are right there beside them. They also have a undying friendship that can be made with animals that live in the Underland if only you accept them and learn to trust them. I would highly recommend these books to anyone because they have wonder, action, adventure, death, love, hope, and most of all, the power of friendship, all in these heart felt books. It is amazing how falling down a laundry room vent can impact one boy's life and a city's existence.

From the Author

Thinking one day about Alice in Wonderland, author Suzanne Collins was struck by how rural the setting must seem to kids who, like her own, lived in the city. In New York City, you're much more likely to fall down a manhole than a rabbit hole and, if you do, you're not going to find a tea party. What you might find...? Collins's musings led to the creation of The Underland Chronicles. "I liked the fact that this world was teeming under New York City and nobody was aware of it. That you could be going along preoccupied with your own problems and then whoosh! You take a wrong turn in your laundry room and suddenly a giant cockroach is right in your face. No magic, no space or time travel, there's just a ticket to another world behind your clothes dryer," Collins says.
