Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait for more! My husband received the cookbook for his birthday. Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed the book, because it is my hubby who has done the cooking. He has made the crispy chicken more than once; first with chicken breasts and then done with a bit less coating on the rotisserie. Everyone who tried it loved it. I could not resist trying the Mac 'N'Cheese, it was delicious. On a healthier note, the Broccoli and Corn Salad is a nice bright complement to the meat, being able to prepare and dress it ahead of time makes entertaining easier. The House of Q Rub is good sprinkled on most everything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE this BBQ Book! I got my book a little while ago, and while I have only made one of the recipes so far, I have read the book cover to cover & thoroughly enjoyed the stories, the Tips & the recipes. It is well written and entertaining. The recipes mainly use stuff you usually have on hand & he encourages you to use what you have, which I love. I did already have several of his sauces and his rub on hand so that helped as well. Can't wait to get grillin'! I am a fairly inexperienced BBQer, so I love that these look & sound pretty straight forward to make too. Definitely one to buy & try!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from More about self promotion and hawking products I bought this books with high hopes, and I was profoundly disappointing. He starts off by saying he has no formal training but that his success comes from a passion, well I say that he could have used some formal training. The majority of his recopies are filled with him trying to hawk his rubs and bbq sauces, and the two that I have made from this book so far have been kind of lack lustre (so I doubt his sauce or rub would have helped). I am not so sure he knows what he's talking about either. The recipe for planked crab stuffed peppers called for an UNSOAKED cedar plank cooked over a direct heat. Against my better judgement I followed the recipe as indicated and guess what the plank caught fire (as I suspected it would). Granted I have only made two of the recipes in the book but so far, the bbq guide has been a disappointment

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome in so many ways!! Ok, I love cookbooks, but I am don't love cooking per se... The cookbooks I like the best are the ones that have recipes that I feel anyone can do it... And off course, the pics must be amazing, and real... What can I say about this one? I just got it not too long ago and tried a few recipes and wow, it came out like the pics... and the taste is amazing... The icing on the cake was that I can now find House of Q BBQ Sauces in my local Grocery Store (Co-op). Spring is here and I will be cooking from this cookbook at least once a week... I mean "Bacon Baklava"... Just sayin...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous BBQ'ing Cookbook Anytime I look at buying a cookbook, these are my first steps: What do the pictures look like? What kind of recipes are in it? Do I need to buy a bunch of ingredients I will only use for one recipe? First - The pictures in this book are mouthwatering! They slap you in the face with mind numbing gorgeous pictures of ribs, grilled veggies, desserts and more. Second - The recipes are incredible! So easy to make and the author leaves it up to the home cook to expand on the recipe. If you want to add more onions, bacon or cheese, do it! His recipes are more of a "guideline" than a precise guide. He wants you to create and open up your palette. Third -- Are there weird ingredients I'll never buy again? Many of his recipes do have his sauces and rub in the ingredients, but he actually states in the beginning of the book that if you don't have it, don't use it. (I'm sure it would be great if everyone did buy his products though). If there's BBQ sauce you make on your own or a house rub you make, use it. I have used House of Q's products and love them, so it's not a problem for me. My overall review of this book -- I bought it and love it! The appetizers are delicious, the desserts are amazing! I never knew you could grill so many desserts! If you're not a bbq'r, or don't have a grill, his techniques work for using an oven or a stovetop too. This isn't JUST a bbq cookbook, it's for everyone. Happy cooking!
