As the carrier of a rare gene, Sirantha Jax has the ability to jump ships through grimspace-a talent which makes her a highly prized navigator for the Corp. Then a crash landing kills everyone on board, leaving Jax in a jail cell with no memory of the crash. But her fun's not over. A group of rogue fighters frees her...for a price: her help in overthrowing the established order.
In her life, Ann Aguirre has been a clown, a clerk, a voice actress, and savior of stray kittens, not necessarily in that order. She grew up in a yellow house across from a cornfield, but now she lives in sunny Mexico with her husband and two adorable children who sometimes do as they are told.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great first effort I found it would have been a good book but the main character Jax, appeared to be burdened by indecision and uncertainty to the point where I thought it unbelievable. The rest of the characters were nicely developed, the action clipped along nicely and the scene descriptions were well written.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fun! (In case the Chapters-Indigo website deletes my rating, I gave this 4 out of 5 stars/leaves.) I really enjoyed this one. An highly enjoyable, engaging read. The main character, Sirantha Jax, is as sassy as they come. However, what also makes you like her is that she has the humility to admit to her failings. The other characters are also very well done. The plot, meanwhile, moves at a mile a minute and is quite exciting -and let's not forget the repartee which flies (and keeps you laughing) throughout the book. All in all, a fun read!! Similar recommended titles (given here because of the weird problems I've been having with the Chapters/Indigo website and which they STILL haven't fixed): -On Basilisk Station, by David Weber -In Fury Born, by David Weber -Stardoc #1, by S.L. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smells like Firefly/Serenity! Quite an enjoyable read - very entertaining. I read it all in one sitting. It reminded me of a Firefly episode which may or may not be a plus. If you enjoy a strong and sassy female character this is a book for you!
