about

Your favourite story about waking up on the wrong side of the...nest.

Bird wakes up grumpy. Too grumpy to eat, play-or even fly. "Looks like I'm walking today," says Bird grumpily. All of this grumpy walking piques the interest of his friends and soon Sheep, Rabbit, Raccoon, Beaver, and Fox are walking alongside him. Somewhere along the way Bird realizes that his friends are still there, but his mood is gone, proving that sometimes grumpy needs company!

This bright book can be read again and again to help kids (and grown-ups) giggle away their darkest moods.

JEREMY TANKARD worked as a graphic designer and typesetter before deciding to write and illustrate his own books. His stories come to him while doodling in his sketchbook-every once in a while a character leaps from his pages and begs for a story!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GRUMPY BIRD It happens. One day you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or, in this particular case, nest. When Bird woke up one day he was, not to put too fine a point on it, grumpy. With grumpiness comes a kind of ennui so, without eating, playing, or flying, Bird goes for a walk. If he was hoping for solitude, though, this probably wasn't the best plan. As Bird meets up with various friends they all join him for his stroll. First Sheep.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST!! I love this little picture book. It is perfect for small children but the ending makes it ideal to read to adults too and everyone in between! A wonderful book and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We read it everynight!! My one year old loves this book! At first I thought it was because I was doing crazy voices for the animals, but even when other people are visiting, she brings them the book to read too! I am in love with the illustrations, wish I had friends like Bird does, and do not mind reading this book every night before my Daughters bedtime. I tell all of my Mama friends about this book, and I haven't heard any complaints yet :-) Great Job Mr.Tankard

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Well Done This book was written to help children see that they can change a grumpy mood. We follow Bird as he begins his day grumpy and tries to stay grumpy. Jeremy Tankard has written and illustrated a great book, with fun, bright and vibrant colors. It is a great story book for the younger members of your families, or as a cure for your own bad mood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must read! I am in love with this book: the story, the art. Bird is annoyed with the world and ends up happy with his friends in just a few short pages. Grumpy Bird is a must-read for anyone who needs a laugh. I'm not kidding - and I DON'T HAVE KIDS. Enough said? I bought it yesterday (Jan 19) at the retail store and I might buy a couple more because they're less online.
