about

The H.M.S. Unseen is one of the most efficient, lethal submarines ever built. But suddenly, on a training mission off the English coast, it vanishes, baffling military intelligence on both sides of the Atlantic, including National Security Adviser Admiral Arnold Morgan. A missing weapon is dangerous enough. But then the unthinkable begins to happen... Planes begin blowing up across the skies.

Searching for answers, Morgan is convinced that only one man can be behind all these devastating events: his archenemy, the world's most cunning—yet reportedly dead—terrorist spy. Determined to stop his old nemesis, Morgan must use all his wits to find a madman armed with a powerful sub hidden somewhere in a million square miles of ocean. What Morgan doesn't know, however, is that the fanatical terrorist has a plan of his own, one that will bring these two intense warriors face-to-face—and only one will come out alive in one of the most chilling spy stories of the year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from H.M.S. UNSEEN I have read both Kilo Class and Nimitz Class buy Patrick Robinson, and have just layed to rest H.M.S. Unseen. This is the thrid book in the series that follow long standing Naval tradion. I have injoyed reading Mr Robinson's tales of Naval battles in far off places. I look forward to reading future projects along the same line. My next adventure will be with his story of U.S.S. Seawolf.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Out Of Date! While this novel is the usual sort of gripping yarn one might expect, the basic premise is totally incorrect. The submarine HMS Unseen (now HMCS Victoria)and its three sisters were bought by the Canadian armed forces, probably as the author was putting the finishing touches on his book. Such a glaring error is inexcusable in one who claims to take great pains over accuracy! Numerous other lesser but annoying glitches also appear frequently e.g. the KC-135 bears no relation to the KC-10.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not so thrilled! For a thriller this one is mediocre at best. I rather liked Kilo Class and Nimitz Class. I think Robinson was correct to remove the ‘Class’ moniker from this novel. His weakest effort yet, the pace is unbelievably slow, inconsistent and unappealing. Unfortunate ugly references to Arabs and Gays by the ‘Good Guys’ had me rooting for the villain. Ending seemed rushed and was unfulfilling. Robinson also confused this book with a Wine guide, its nice to know he's discovered the joys of the grape, but keep the endless Wine references out of a book like this.
