about

Fear has a color. It’s the gruesome glow of yellow, wielded by the totalitarian tyrant Sinestro and his Yellow Lanterns. And now the entire universe is bathed in its sinister light. The Sinestro Corps have replaced the Green Lanterns as the peacekeepers of the galaxy.

Oa, the homeworld of the Guardians and their Green Lantern Corps, is no more. In its place at the center of the universe orbits Warworld, Sinestro’s home base. The Green Lanterns have vanished, leaving no one to oppose the Sinestro Corps’ reign of terror.

No one, that is, except the last Lantern: Hal Jordan.

Convicted of crimes he didn’t commit, reduced to a being of pure thought and will, Hal must now battle back from the brink to reform the Corps and free all of creation from his archenemy’s iron fist.

Sinestro’s word is law…but Hal Jordan is the lawbreaker!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ALRIGHT READABLE BUT SEEMS LIKE I'VE READ THE SAME IDEAS IN THIS STORY PREVIOUSLY. SINESTRO'S CORPS WANTING TO RULE, THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS AND HAL, GUY, AND JOHN RESTABLSIHING THEMSELVES. CONFLICT BETWEEN THE TWO. GOOD STARTING POINT HOWEVER IF NEW TO THE SERIES.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent. An alright start but not overly compelling in my opinion. Slick artwork keeps your eyes on the page though. Will likely pick up volume 2 but it's near the bottom of my list.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Sinestro's Law ...... It's Hal Jordan's Law! Robert Venditti has redeemed himself writing a back-to-basics (ala Green Lantern: Rebirth over a decade ago) book of good vs. evil. Great psuedo-political intrigue! The return of Hal Jordan as a Green Lantern & cosmic hero is a welcome one! John Stewart taking his rightful place as the supreme leader of the Green Lantern Corps, however the Corps is only 6% strong. And Guy Gardner ...... a heroic rebel! Venditti has succeeded in reversing some of the bad elements from the Green Lantern lore over the the past several years & yet evolved the whole Green Lantern concept further. I particularly enjoyed the "civil war" within the Sinestro Corps throughout the book & looking forward to seeing how it evolves further. The ending of the book suffered because of its decompression storytelling as I have to wait a few months for its conclusion. Artistically ..... well presented by rotating artists Ethan Van Sciver & Rafa Sandoval. Both have visually energized the series & I hope they continue to work on together for the foreseeable future. It will be a long wait until June.
