Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing is either good or bad but thinking makes it so I know Hamlet needs no introduction so I won't belittle you with a review, however, I would like to say something about why I had to buy this specific copy. It's very flexible, it's portable, and the writing is just the right size. It takes me a long time to find a good print, and this is it. Highly recommend. Also Hamlet is amazing.

Date published: 2017-02-25
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too difficult to read The story was a bit predictable at some point and too overly exaggerated for me... and the writing was just hard to read (not holding this against Shakespear though...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Read I bought this to read in English class and I'm so glad I did because it's an amazing play!
Date published: 2016-12-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frustratingly good The most interesting and frustrating thing about this famous play is how much room there is for interpretation. It is a must-read, but not necessarily my favorite.
Date published: 2016-12-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from "The rest is silence" if you do not read this play! It's never too late to read a classic, and this is just what anyone who is looking for one should pick up. Recently, in my english class, we analyzed the whole play with the help of my extraordinary teacher. If one were to examine Shakespeare's classic revenge story, one would see how it clearly relates to so many stories and movies published and made today! Shakespeare is still alive and around us, therefore please pick this play up and see "the great amiss" you are missing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coming of Age isn't Easy A coming of age story that looks at how challenging it is to be a young adult. That being said, I personally didn't love this play until I was past the young adult phase of my life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The puzzle of Death Hamlet is confusing because its S's meditation on the biggest puzzle of all, death. You're not supposed to figure out Hamlet because there are no answers, only questions. S's only son's name was Hamlet and he died two years before this play was written ... do the math.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good read It took me a few plays before I could truly appreciate Shakespeare and this was the first one that swayed my opinion. This is more so a result of my teachers way of explaining the book, he really ensured you had the best possible understanding. Once you are able to comprehend the plays, they are quite witty and have great plots. #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best of Shakespeare's Work Of all of Shakespeare's work that I've read so far, I found this play to be the most satisfying. I loved Hamlet's monologues, insights and musings, as well as the overall plot of the play. It is a well thought out play that I would recommend to anyone who likes Shakespeare and insightful symbolism and dialogue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great as a classroom text Writing as a teacher, the Cambridge School Shakespeare series is a welcome change from other editions. Work to do/activities are on the opposite page from the text being considered and there are a variety of interesting and new activities different from the standard stuff done in class. Some of them are more "drama" than 'english", but all are good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Probably my second favourite Shakespearean play. Update: I'm changing this from 4 stars to 5 because I did well on the assigned essay. ;) Just kidding. I thought someone should have told Mr. Shakespeare to cut a whole chunk out of this play. I recommend someone to rewrite this play with the ghost actually a demon. Oohhhh~ This play had some highs and some lows. Overall, a decent play.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Methinks it is like a weasel I'm going to take some hits for this (by rabid Shakespeare fans mostly), but this play, whether read in a straightforward manner, or analyzed to the hilt, is just somewhat better than mediocre. Most folks who would read this work know that Shakespeare's plays are broken down, at the top, into two groups: tragedies and comedies. Hamlet is a tragedy -- the limited humor that one finds herein is pretty darn subtle, (e.g., the comment about Englishmen all being mad). I do not criticise "Hamlet" for that actuality, in fact, I prefer the tragedies. However, the play, as plays go, is simply just so-so. I think folks get 'caught up' in the fact that this is SHAKESPEARE, and therefore, they are SUPPOSED to like it if they have an ounce of culture. For people who wish to delve into ecclectic classic works (of all genres), "Hamlet" is difficult to read (unless you're a genius, you sort of have to stumble along and concentrate on what has been said), due mostly to the archaic language. I think, to be a fan of Shakespeare, one must assidiously STUDY Shakespeare... and for those folks who just want 'to read some Shakespeare,' I think that "Julius Caesar" is a much better place to begin. The story about Hamlet is essentially a good tale, if a bit drawn out, but some of the details are what make it most interesting. Also, I like any story where madness is a facet of the discussion (I LOVED "The Brothers Karamazov," Dostoyevsky!) But to assert that this work is a wonderful read just because it's Shakespeare, is why I say: Methinks it is [just a bit] like a weasel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hamlet I've never been much of a Shakespeare fan, which makes me a little bias when writing this review. However, I thought the story of "Hamlet" was incredibly good and exciting, and it kept me intrigued the entire time. Unfortunately, I have always found that Shakespeare's writing, though beautiful, is very distracting and takes away from my enjoyment of the play, simply because it takes me a while to understand what is being told. That said, Hamlet is still a fantastic read, but it really requires a person with patience to fully appreciate it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hamlet This play is my second favourite; Even though it is difficult reading and most of the words are old English I found it to be a very deep read. The play deals with Prince Hamlet and his revenge against his uncle Claudius who has murdered his father king Hamlet seized the throne of Denmark and married his mother Queen Gertrude. It contains all of the characteristics needed for a good story such as murder, revenge, friendship, trust, life, and death. Hamlet is the longest play ever written but it is very good. This book is the essential resource for anyone who wants to understand Hamlet. The book provides good insight to a much researched topic. The book is readable and would be a good source for the students of Shakespeare. I recommend the book to anyone who is looking for an understanding and competency in this subject. I'm in college now and I've only read two Shakespeare’s- Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. Great product that I without a doubt will use in the future if needed. I have a better understanding of Hamlet today than I did when I was in school. Hamlet is universally considered to be one of Shakespeare’s best works. It’s an amazing playwright, and I hope you have the pleasure of reading this story in the future. I love Shakespeare's work and I will keep reading it and I also recommend others to read this interesting book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Prince of Denmark One of the most well known plays in English Literature. Hamlet is based on a ledged that has been around long before the play. Hamlet is a historical figure trying to figure out his place in life. He has a bad relationship with his mother, and treats his girlfriend with little respect. When Hamlet's father is poisoned to death. All of Shakespeare's plays are leading up to Hamlet.
