about

Albom's first nonfiction book since Tuesdays with Morrie begins with an unusual request: an eight-two-year-old rabbi from Albom's hometown asks him to deliver his eulogy. Feeling unworthy, Albom on understanding the man better, which throws him back into a world of faith he's left years ago. Meanwhile, closer to his current home, Albom becomes involved with a Detroit pastor - a reformed drug dealer and convict - who preaches to the poor and homeless in a decaying church with a whole in its roof. Moving between theur worlds, Albom observes how these very different men employ faith similarly in fighting for survival. As America struggles with hard times and people turn more to there beliefs, Albom and the two men of God explore issues that perplex modern man: how to endure when difficult things happen; what heaven is; intermarriage; forgiveness; doubting God; and the importance of faith in trying times. Albom begins to recognize a striking unity between the two worlds - and indeed, between beliefs everywhere. Have a Little Faith is a book about life's purpose; about losing belief and finding it again; about the divine spark inside us all. It is one man's journey, but it si everyone's story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thought provoking and beautifully written. Several times I found myself re-reading sentences and paragraphs that caught my eye. Things that I thought were beautifully written, thought provoking or relatable to my own life. Its books like these that are worth high ratings, in my opinion. Although a short book, it is a quick read that is chalk full of life lessons. However I think that it is best read slowly so that the reader can savour the story and in turn get the most from it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Have A Little Faith This is a remarkable, true story of contrast, of two men of God; one an aging rabbi, and the other, an African American pastor working in a ghetto. Two men---two different faiths; two entirely different backgrounds. In the end, the message is clear: Faith ties us closely together and can give us the chance to accomplish things we never dreamed possible.
