about

Inside Music Books is pleased to introduce the Fan Lowdown series by music journalist Karen Bliss. These books offer the fan an enhanced experience. Bliss solicits stories from fans via the artist's message board and mailing list: concert or road trip stories; meeting the artist; making cookies for the band; a song they fell in love to; a lyric that helped get them through a tough time. Bliss has interviewed the band members, sharing her most interesting submissions and getting the bands thoughts and their own memories. The result is a unique look at the artists career, remembered from both sides of the stage. Scattered throughout are photos, ticket stubs, set lists, posters, backstage passes and other mementos that add a sense of time and place. Hedleys eponymous debut album went platinum in Canada, received five Juno nominations and the Much Music Video Award for Best Pop Video for Gunnin. Their sophomore album, Famous Last Words, was released in 2007, and the band toured the U.S. and Canada, headlining as well as supporting Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Simple Plan and Three Days Grace.

Karen Bliss is a music journalist, the editor of Samaritanmag.com, creator of the Fan Lowdown book series, and co-author of Music from Far and Wide: Celebrating 40 Years of the Juno Awards She lives in Toronto.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A true keepsake for all Hedley fans I, one of the fortunate British Columbia contest winners was able to get my hands on a copy of the book a few weeks before it came out in stories (As I do believe it's not even out in the stores yet, is it?) At first when I saw the book it wasn't how I pictured it to be but once I opened it and read into it more I enjoyed the book more then I thought I would have. The book shows everyone including "pre-Hedley" fans that this band truly cares about their fans. The fact that the members took the time to read each story and write a little comment next to the story proved my point exactly. That was a nice added touch for me and I believe that was my favorite part. Without giving away too much before the book comes out in stores I just want people to know that this is a great buy, you won't be disappointed. To people who have just started liking Hedley or people who just like music in general... Reading this book will help clear up those "cliche" comments towards the band and will certainly help you believe that they aren't just ANOTHER band and it's interesting to see HOW MANY people have such amazing, positive stories. Thanks Jacob, Chris, Dave and Tom for all the amazing memories you've given me and thank you Karen Bliss for putting this book out there for all to see what awesome guys the boys of Hedley really are.
