When Katarina Bishop was three her parents took her to the Louvre...to case it. For her seventh birthday Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria...to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned 15 she planned a con of her own--scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately leaving 'the life' for a normal life proves harder than she'd expected. Kat's father is accused of stealing a powerful mobster's art collection. For Kat there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it's a spectacularly impossible job? She's got two weeks and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family's (very crooked) history--and with any luck steal her life back along the way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heist Society When I started reading this, I panicked for a moment because I thought there was supposed to be an earlier book in the series that I had missed. It was a little confusing at first because I was thrust immediately into a well established world, but once things made a bit more sense, it was a delightful read. I loved the story, the plot, the action which is so different from typical YA books (in such a good way). It was even better the second time I read it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love! This book is absolutely amazing and I can't stress how much I love it. Although I found the first five chapters hard to get through, the rest of the book went smoothly. I was confused at the beginning of the book because I felt like it was missing a whole back story to it because you're all of a sudden so deep into the world Ally Carter has made: characters and past events are talked about as if they happened in the first book and I just skipped to the next. The book started to make sense after a while and I actually really enjoyed the plot line and characters. The writing was incredible and nothing like I ever read before. It brings you to the past, present and shows you an overall outlook on all of the events happening in a way that it blends together nicely (although it sometimes confused me). The plot line was great: I found it fresh and new and at some parts predictable. The book kept me on edge and made me wonder what was going to happen next. The characters were fantastic. They had really great chemistry with each other and their relationships were very funny and interesting to read about. Hale and Kat.. I don't know what to do with them. There wasn't a lot of romance but you could easily tell there was some tension. The whole time I was kind of like: why don't they just get together already? Besides the romance, I also really like how the whole book is so family oriented and you can see how Kat cares so much about her family. I love how while reading this book I felt like I was watching a movie; the planning of the job and the execution was intense and suspenseful. I really wish they make this book into a film. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ocean's Eleven for Youth Our main character Kat is our classic non-feminine girl with a male best friend that just happens to be gorgeous (and rich), the cover is slightly misleading in this aspect with a picture of a girl who is suppose to be Kat looking positively stunning. It follows the same pattern as multiple stories about big thieving operations with the same sort of characters, this is the first one I've come across that deals with teenagers and has a girl running the operation, which makes it unique. I'd recommend this novel for a rainy day or plane ride, not something that will have you canceling dates to finish faster. That being said, I will read the sequel, because I like Kat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tick-tick-tick Time is tick-tick-ticking away for Kat and her team. I mean who cares if they're just a group of random teens? So what if they're up againt a million, bazillion security features? So what if they have to retrieve more than one painting in a short amount of time? So what if it seems like a completely impossible mission? They can steal it right? This book is all about busting mission impossible. And unless they accomplish their mission, they're doomed. It's interesting how the team pulls together, despite their differnces, to pull off the biggest heist of the year! If you've read Ally's other series about spies, you'd know that this is a big change from what she's used to writing about. Nonetheless, it's a great book that will keep you on the edge 'til the very end! SPOILER (in a way): I hate snakes.
