Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very interesting Started out a little bit confusing... multiple stories which were completely different from each other. Then they merged nicely together, giving a very detailed picture of what was happening. Although the ending was a tiny bit shorter than expected, it got me hooked and will surely have a look at the author' s other books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impossible to put down! Without a doubt, one of the best science fiction novels I have ever read. The pace was perfect. Never too fast that you felt like the pages were disappearing before you even had a chance to absorb them and not to slow that you felt like the story was dragging. There are so many apocalyptic stories out there and so many of them are just more of the same. Either they are too real and it's really just someone trying to get a message across (which is fine in the right medium and venue) or it's so stupidly out there that you can't be bothered to try to believe it. Helix is the perfect blend of fact and fiction. Just enough fact to get you into the story and help you relate to the characters and their plight and plenty of far out science to keep you involved and intrigued. Also, I love an author that is not afraid to kill their characters! I won't give anything away but Brown does a great job picking who lives and who dies. This book is an absolute must read for any science fiction fan. Not only is the story epic with so much room for expansion within your imagination, but the writing is simply wonderful. A few annoying repetitions here and there, which, if you have read any of my other reviews you know is a huge pet peeve of mine, but not enough to spoil the reading. READ IT!
