about

He is determined to save her, whether she likes it or not!

Bucking family tradition, Dyre is determined to become his planet’s first hero, even if it breaks his mother’s heart. He sets out on numerous quests to save the universe, however his altruism never seems to turn out quite as expected. Who knew doing the right thing was so hard?

In between saving those who don’t want his help—and the chaos that follows—he rescues a damsel in distress. She doesn’t appreciate his heroic abduction, and even worse, once Dyre gets to know the outspoken human, he entertains less than noble thoughts about ravishing her.

It takes only a couple of comical mishaps, some hot kisses and danger for Dyre and Betty to discover their happily ever after—and thank the stars for a heroine who ends up saving this hero, and the galaxy, from his chivalrous side.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from a blast to read What does it take to become a hero in a family of mercs? Some comedy, a little heat, & a lot of action. Langlais serves this all up with a side of out of this world adventure. This novel has a well written flow that enhances the feel of the story. The unofficial guide to heroism was… well… Oh you’ll just have to read the story. I can’t put its pricelessness into words, especially not against the mercenary’s guide. I swear, every time Dyre opens his mouth he made me laugh. I love how he strives to be himself, even if it rarely turns out as expected. Betty’s unique mix of human and Zonian beliefs made her into quite the feisty damsel, even if she was always in distress. This novel is a fairy tale fantasy meets ignoble space alien in a comical and at times heated adventure through the galaxy. It was a blast to read.
