about

Merciless attacks by an invincible alien force have left the New Republic reeling. Dozens of worlds have succumbed to occupation or annihilation, and even the Jedi Knights have tasted defeat. In these darkest of times, the noble Chewbacca is laid to rest, having died as heroically as he lived--and a grief-stricken Han Solo is left to fit the pieces of his shattered soul back together before he loses everything: friends, family, and faith.

Refusing help from Leia or Luke, Han becomes the loner he once was, seeking to escape the pain of his partner's death in adventure . . . and revenge. When he learns that an old friend from his smuggling days is operating as a mercenary for the enemy, he sets out to expose the traitor. But Han's investigation uncovers an even greater evil: a sinister conspiracy aimed at the very heart of the New Republic's will and ability to fight--the Jedi.

Now Han must face down his inner demons and, with the help of a new and unexpected ally, honor Chewbacca's sacrifice in the only way that matters--by being worthy of it.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great portrayal of grieving This book focuses on Han Solo grieving after the loss of a major character. It is well done and his pushing away of Leia feels realistic. The addition of the Ryn Droma is welcomed one and helps bring some character to a book that is rather gloomy. If you've read previous books focusing on Han, you'll enjoy the duology. There's plenty of call backs to previous EU books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Emotional and action packed. I enjoyed the tone of the book, it is very much centred on Hand Solo, and how he deals with the loss of Chewbacca. There are some touching moments of Hand remembering and grieving for his fallen friend, but Han does this in his typical by the seat of his pants way. The story moves from one action packed scene to the next.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Han rocks Slower than others in the series. Still good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Centering on Star battles Overall I thought this was a great book. With a new enemy in our galaxy far far away, the story has become alot more interesting once more. In the duology Agents of Chaos, the author has tuned his book to center on star battling and turning away from the Jedi roots. The Jedi play the major role, but I find that the Force is mentioned less than in previous books. I'm guessing this is due to the Yuuzhan Vong's absence of the force...Personally thats a bit of a turn off, as I really miss things like using the force to throw objects or Luke throwing a lightsabre across the room to kill enemies and have it return from him. I still recommend all to check the book out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bland This book was, well, bland. The action scenes were okay, but not as good as other authors in the past (i.e. Stackpole) had done them, but they were still good. I missed some characters like Corran, but he couldn't be in the book, due to the fact that Stackpole temporarily got rid of him. Scenes when the Jedi are actually doing something are scarce. This bothers me because it is THE NEW JEID ORDER. Oh well. The book was bland.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Room for Improvement Personally, I was disappointed by this book. I have read over 40 other SW books and this is ranked near the bottom. It is based on a singular plot of a defector from the Yuuzhan Vong which became boring when dragged over 300 pages. Only the senior characters are used and many newer important ones, such as Corran Horn, are missing. Han is able to come to grips with Chewie's death alone, due to the defection and many trips down memory lane add some life (and one star in my rating). I also found the title vague and misleading.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Refreshing This novel brings back the main characters which were sorely missed in the previous two novels. Issues are finally resolved and a nice trip down memory lane for all us Hard Core SW Fans. Very refreshing :)
