Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this book! This is a great cook book for anyone! My diet is about 90% plant based and my husband is about 60% plant based...I have made many recipes from this book and haven't had a bad experience yet. My husband loves everything I've made from the book as well! I will say some ingredients are a little more difficult to find sometimes, but I would say that is mainly due to my geographical location. You can always look for substitutes or just omit the ingredient altogether (some of the time). I would recommend this cookbook to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious recipes! It has a variety of dishes and you won’t believe it it’s vegan!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So so I'm yet to find a recipe in the book that I MUST remake. I'm not vegan but vegetarian and thought I'd try this cookbook since so many are geared toward meat eaters and require a lot of adjustments on my part. However I found some dishes flavourless or too hard to locate the ingredients, even after going to health food stores and multiple grocery stores. I found everything seemed to take longer than the given timeframe too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay book Not vegan but I gave into the hype surrounding this book. I like watching Lauren on YouTube and the recipes are good....but I find myself reading them and not actually making them because they seem finicky and tedious and sometimes have hard to find ingredients. If you're committed to being vegan, I'm sure this would be a great resource for you though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love there are some great recipes in this book and lots of tips. normally i have to pick and choose recipes out of a cookbook but i like that this isn't too big/heavy of a cookbook and i actually want to go through every recipe and make it at least once!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Trying new things! I've been vegetarian for a few years now so this book caught my eye since I knew I'd be able to eat everything in it. It's making me enjoy cooking again since I had gotten into a frozen food and take out rut. It has simple recipes but a few of the ingredients involved me going to multiple stores to locate, that would be my downside so far. 10/10 you need to make the homemade pop tarts!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Something for everyone! I picked this one up on a whim and I am very glad I did. So far I have tried the greek salad, lasagna soup and the cupcakes - all winners. I loved the recipe for the tofu-feta (for the greek salad), so good. I am also looking forward to trying out the apple fritter recipe. Lots of pictures in this cookbook and a great blend of easy and challenging and healthy and perhaps not so healthy recipes. A little something for everyone!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but more sweet stuff, please So many great recipes in this book but for Laren's next one I hope there are more desserts! I tried the sweet potato gnocchi and it tasted fantastic, although I found the dough a little hard to work with. But overall this book has some great ideas for vegan comfort food.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good The recipes look good. Definitely not healthy; but sometimes you don't want healthy. My only issue, is that the recipes use lots of fake meat and cheese brands from the store; which are not available in my area. The pictures make the food look delicious.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So far so good My husband and I aren't vegans, but we're trying to consume healthier meals. So, as a newbie this cookbook is pretty good. The recipes are decent, I just wish the ingredients for some of them were simpler. I've only tried 6 recipes though, so far. Looking forward to try the other recipes.

Editorial Reviews

One of Toronto Star’s “Big Bestseller’s of 2018” "[Toyota] deep-fries with abandon and crafts cartoony hand pies festooned with rainbow sprinkles. In contrast to 'clean eating' missives, this is plant-based food with a sense of delight." —The National Post"Lauren's Hot for Food Vegan Comfort Classics provides so many wildly indulgent comfort food recipes--like Mac & Cheese Onion Rings and Stuffed Crust Pizza--all without a lick of animal products! I'm willing to bet there's something in here to tempt even the biggest plant-based skeptic." —Angela Liddon, New York Times bestselling author of The Oh She Glows Cookbook and Oh She Glows Everyday"Lauren has absolutely nailed this cookbook. Vegans looking to up their cooking game, or those hoping to try plant-based eating for the first time will be blown away at the creativity of these recipes. From basic sauces and doughs to the most delicious-looking veggie burgers and cakes, this book has it all. The photos and recipes don't disappoint!" —Dana Shultz author of Minimalist Baker's Everyday Cooking   "No matter where you fall on the plant-based spectrum, Lauren's creations will immediately appeal to that side of you that craves crispy fried goodness, a sticky-gooey sugar hit, an unabashedly large and delicious serving of carbs, or just something that reminds you of bacon. And we all have that side!" —Laura Wright, Saveur award-winning food blogger and author of The First Mess Cookbook   "Lauren is a genius when it comes to plant-based cooking. Who would have ever thought that recipes like French Toast Coffee Cake, Mac & Cheese Onion Rings, and Stuffed Crust Pizza would be in a vegan cookbook! Hot for Food has become my favorite YouTube channel and I'm so excited to cook everything from Lauren's book." —Jeanine Donofrio, creator of the popular blog Love & Lemons and author of The Love & Lemons Cookbook   "Lauren is a renegade and hugely responsible for showing the world how incredible plant-based foods can be. Her dedication and out-of-the-box brilliance for vegan cooking is in a league of its own. Good luck eating any other vegan food after you try hot for food recipes, because it just does not get any tastier than this. This is basically a bible. Lauren Toyota is above the law." —Julien Solomita & Jenna Mourey/MARBLES, YouTubers
