Rated 5 out of 5 by from A sweet story about friendship Oliver Jeffers' books have so many wonderful elements. The writing, character development, and illustrations - he makes it all magical. Young and old alike will love this story about finding friendship in unlikely places.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cliche story Spoiler: the boy waits around trying to figure out how to catch a star, sees the star's reflection in the water and thinks it's fallen into the ocean, and ends up with starfish. Not the best message, especially in light of environmental conservation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great graduation gift! I know most people tend to give Dr. Seuss as a graduation present (when giving children's books to adults) but I gave this to my brother when he graduated high school and he loved it! Adorable art, poignant story, and all-around good book for everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My kids love it My two-year-old son loves the illustrations and story. My five-year-old daughter likes it mostly because she likes the character (who also is the main character in Lost and Found which she loves). The story isn't the most original but the way it is told makes it interesting for my kids.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How to catch a modern classic I am a mother of two and I now collect all of Oliver Jeffers books for them - this was our first book by Jeffers and we fell in love. His wildly creative storytelling and whimsical art work are masterful in their simplicity and addictive in their oddness. My kids giggle at the tales and so do I. His "little boy" series is wonderful and should all be collected. I often give them as gifts to spread the joy around amongst my friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this book I LOVE this book! Oh, and my kids (ages 3 and 2) love it as well. It is one book that I don't mind reading over and over again. Very well written and easy to read with lots of enthusiasm and the pictures are great too. Highly recommend this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly Adorable This is a cute book about a little boy who decides that he wants to catch a star of his very own. My favourite lines: "He dreamed how this star might be his friend. They would play hide-and-go-seek..." "He thought he could fly up in his spaceship and just grab the star. But his spaceship had run out of petrol last Tuesday when he flew to the moon." - which makes complete sense if you ask me. The complete acceptance that one can indeed catch a star and succeed, is what makes Oliver Jeffers' books so wonderful. I recommend this as a great bedtime story or for any kid who loves to dream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful pictures, wonderful story I came across this book and was drawn in by the illustrations (no pun intended!). I went back to the store 3 times to look at the book because I just couldn't get the images out of my mind. As it turns out, the story is just as good as the pictures. I love reading this book to my 7 month old son and he seems to be quite captivated by the pictures as well. I am sure this is a book we will continue to enjoy reading together as a family...maybe he'll even read it to us one day!

Adults tend to think of waiting as tedious, but the magic of this book is that it understands waiting as children wait - alert, apprehensive and using their imaginations."
