Now a #1 New York Times Bestseller! In the summer of 2010, photographer Brandon Stanton began an ambitious project -to single-handedly create a photographic census of New York City. The photos he took and the accompanying interviews became the blog Humans of New York. His audience steadily grew from a few hundred followers to, at present count, over eighteen million. In 2013, his book Humans of New York, based on that blog, was published and immediately catapulted to the top of the NY Times Bestseller List where it has appeared for over forty-five weeks. Now, Brandon is back with the Humans of New York book that his loyal followers have been waiting for: Humans of New York: Stories. Ever since Brandon began interviewing people on the streets of New York, the dialogue he's had with them has increasingly become as in-depth, intriguing and moving as the photos themselves. Humans of New York: Stories presents a whole new group of people in stunning photographs, with a rich design and, most importantly, longer stories that delve deeper and surprise with greater candor. Let Brandon Stanton and the Humans of New York he's photographed astonish you all over again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Captivating! This book was hard to put down, it's not a type of book you see everyday. This book teaches that there is more than meets the eye, these pictures tell more than what is seen, and most of them come with a little story alongside them. Some of them are hilarious, others sad, and others inspiring. My friend and I spent a about 2hrs reading them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fell in love with it As powerful as it is poignant, I absolutely devoured this book. I've read this countless times since receiving it for Christmas, and it does not fail to make me shed a tear at a couple of stories. Brandon Stanton is a brilliant photographer, and an even better photojournalist. He truly sheds light on people you would've never thought to approach and ask about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love HONY! Brandon Stanton's Humans of New York is a daily fix for me. I usually follow HONY on Facebook. There are now over "fifteen million people who follow the blog everyday." In case, you've not heard of started as a project to "photograph thousands of people on the streets of New York." Moving along, quotes were added to the pictures. And those quotes morphed into stories...... Humans of New York: Stories released at the end of last year, but I was holding off reading it 'til 'the right time' - a time where I could sit and ponder, enjoy each photo and the bits of life strangers chose to share. New Years Day seemed like the right time - a perfect first book for 2016. And it was. Stanton is a talented photographer, capturing people of all ages, genders, races and gamut of circumstances , conditions, relationships, life, work and more. I enjoyed the photographs on their own in the first book, but Stories is simply amazing. Each and every page, I started by looking, really looking, at the person and only then reading their story. Then back to the photograph. Stories will take you on an emotional ride - they're sad, joyful, uplifting, thought provoking, inspiring, moving and oh so addicting. If you're an online follower, you also know how connecting and powerful the blog is. The comments, the changes and the challenges inspired by this project are astounding. It took me most of the day to make my way through the 400 plus pages. As I turned the last page, I wondered what story I would tell...... Humans of New York: Stories is a book I'll read again. Absolutely a powerful way to start a New Year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT! I've been following HONY since a time before his book was released and this definitely doesn't disappoint! I've seen all his posts online, but it's nice to have a hardcover copy of it! The little stories that are captured in this book are something that anyone with any kind of interests, of any age can enjoy. It's hard to describe this book other than to say it's amazing because it's one of a kind! This also makes a fantastic gift, whether for yourself or someone else, and there's no way you can go wrong!!!! Happy reading!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely loved it Honestly, it may sound cliche but these stories and the pictures that accompany them make me feel human. Like take a deep breath, think about yourself, think about people other than yourself kind of human. It makes you appreciate that the person you hold a door open for has a whole story you know nothing about. So be kind. I laughed, I cried, I was moved. This is just a beautiful depiction of life and the millions of fascinating people you walk beside every single day. I loved it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stories about humans for humans If I'd to describe this book in a couple words: THE FEELS. "Humans of New York: Stories" hits all the right spots. It's funny and tugs at your heartstrings; it's grounded but also inspirational and thought-provoking; it's melancholic and nostalgic yet also hopeful. The quotes and anecdotes make the portraitures so much more engaging and relatable. I thought to myself two things: what about myself do I have to say if I were to be stopped by Brandon Stanton, and, what would I ask a random stranger if I was Stanton? I realized two things: I think I'd nothing interesting to offer up but when it comes down to that moment I'd probably share something that I've known in me as what has defined my life so far, and, how unique each situation and interaction would be for the interviewed individual and for Stanton. And that is what makes this book about humans so human for humans.

Editorial Reviews

"As the quotes grew longer, and the interviews deeper, Stanton developed a signature storytelling style-one that blends the lure of urban voyeurism with an eye for the extraordinary detail in seemingly ordinary subjects. What makes these photographs compelling is their sincerity, their air of authenticity. All are taken on the spot of first contact. Some people are caught mid-sentence. Even those who pose are free of the sterile stiffness of staged portraits." -The Economist"A wondrous mix of races, ages, genders, and social classes, and on virtually every page is a surprise." -Kirkus Reviews, starred review"Some street photographers hide behind phone booths like paparazzi so their subject won't be aware of their presence, but for Stanton it's precisely that awkward interaction, the tearing down of the wall between strangers, that he covets." -The Huffington Post"There's no judgment, just observation and in many cases reverence, making for an inspiring reading and visual experience." -Publisher's Weekly
