Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome book! Hurricane Karegon is a fictional novel by Jeffrey Ben. It features three main protagonists, Max, Leo, and Elisa. It follows the story of Max and his cousin Leo, who discover a magical world under Max’s backyard, in his hurricane-devastated neighbourhood. There, in the magical world, they meet Elisa, and together they have to fight the evil existing in the magical world. One of the biggest conflicts in the book is that between Elisa, Max, and Leo against the evil King and his minions. However, through perseverance and persistence, our protagonists are able to fight these conflicts. As well, Leo originally has a conflict with his parents, trying to get permission to help Max in the hurricane. This is resolved eventually when Leo manages to convince his parents by persisting. Finally, there is the conflict of nature with the hurricane and Max, as well as Leo. However, with perseverance, Max and Leo are able to wait out for the hurricane to end. Ben shows the conflicts between the characters extremely well and with great depth. The readers are hooked on to every word. Readers are instantly attracted to the protagonists and can understand the way they feel and why they feel so through a variety of unique ways used by the author. Although the book was paced fairly quickly, enough information was always given so that the reader would not feel left behind, or wonder how some things happened. Hurricane Karegon was an amazing book that kept readers hooked right to the end of it, and leaves them excited for a sequel.
