The bestselling memoir by Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

I Am Malala. This is my story.

Malala Yousafzai was only ten years old when the Taliban took control of her region. They said music was a crime. They said women weren't allowed to go to the market. They said girls couldn't go to school.
Raised in a once-peaceful area of Pakistan transformed by terrorism, Malala was taught to stand up for what she believes. So she fought for her right to be educated. And on October 9, 2012, she nearly lost her life for the cause: She was shot point-blank while riding the bus on her way home from school.
No one expected her to survive.
Now Malala is an international symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner. In this Young Readers Edition of her bestselling memoir, which has been reimagined specifically for a younger audience and includes exclusive photos and material, we hear firsthand the remarkable story of a girl who knew from a young age that she wanted to change the world -- and did.
Malala's powerful story will open your eyes to another world and will make you believe in hope, truth, miracles and the possibility that one person -- one young person -- can inspire change in her community and beyond.

Malala Yousafzai was born in 1997 in the Swat Valley of Pakistan. In her short lifetime, she has already experienced devastating changes in her country, which has been transformed from a once peaceful land to a hotbed of terrorism. Malala, who now lives in Birmingham, England, says she has been given a second life, which she intends to...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Educational read! The author of this inspirational book, Malala Yousafzai, told this story from her point of view as a schoolgirl being threatened by the Taliban because she stood up for girls education in Pakistan. You can tell how this novel has been adapted to suit a younger reader, because Malala really tries to connect western children’s everyday lives to her own. We empathize with Malala, because although there are horrific killings, lashings, and bans on girls’ education; she still has regular teenage problems like arguing with siblings, questioning her looks, and fighting for the TV remote. She holds the reader’s attention with the constant fear of something happening to her and her family. I strongly urge you to read the book because it talks about how these terrorists came to power, the effect it had on the people of Pakistan, and what has been done to help. I would suggest reading the more detailed and less restricted version because I feel as though it would answer a lot more questions of an older reader. Overall, this was a fantastic, eye-opening book, that is a great read for anyone who is interested in the world's current issues, or in learning about different cultures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inspirational Read! “I Am Malala” by Malala Yousafzai is an amazing historical non-fiction book that described Malala’s incredible story. A story that changed the world. Malala fought for her rights and the rights of young girls. She was shot by the Taliban at a very young age. “I am Malala” documents Malala’s fight for her life, for the rights of other girls, and her amazing recovery. This book was written beautifully and captured the emotions very well. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for an inspirational, true story.
