about

This is a celebration of books, reading, and our imaginations, I Love a Book opens with a list of types of books and where to find them. The simple, lyrical prose then becomes more frantic as a young reader encounters pirates sailing the sea, a classroom of monsters "learning math with their paws," and even an animal doctor making house calls in a helicopter.

With lavish illustrations nearly spilling off the page, the young reader finally reaches the end of an exhausting day, ready for bed ... and more books. This book is for anyone who loves books and wants to instill this passion in the next generation.
Joe Rhatigan is a writer and editor who lives with his wife and children in Asheville, North Carolina. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let's have a book party! This book is a celebratory party of books... books being the guests of honour. It celebrates the gift of reading and stimulates imaginations as to where an engaging book can take you. A young boy cannot read enough books and from morning to night, by reading them, he experiences cows in a tree, a pirate ship without a crew, gum chewing sharks in a classroom, singing frogs high up on a cloud, alien bookcases and dinosaurs wearing shoes, just to highlight a few. How exciting is that? It's no wonder at the end of the day he is still in party mood and wants to keep on reading. Everyone loves a great party right? The book is written in rhyme and the illustrations are simply fantastic. The vibrant colours and action-packed details just pop right off of the page into your psyche. Very very impressive indeed! The excitement of the little boy makes him unable to go to sleep because he is energized to read one more book (and another ... and another!!). His attitude towards reading is infectious and kids will want to join in his enthusiasm I'm sure. This would be a perfect addition to a classroom, a library or a home setting. It will not disappoint, guaranteed. I highly, highly recommend this book.

"The title and cover illustration...will attract many a book maven. The theme—books can transport you anywhere—is familiar, but the detailed scenes and saturated colors of the artwork pop with action and make the book appealing in itself....plenty of pizzazz to entice kids."
