Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sharpen your ice skates, we're figure-eighting around an icey teen romance... This and more reviews can be found here: http://thelittlebluepig.blogspot.com/ This is not a book for everyone. I am a lover of all books so this went well with me (Gee, I make it sound like some type of food). It was a cute little winter read that made me giggle and smile. These types of books, the one's that are cheesy and short, are the best for something different. A lot of YA novels usually, in some way or another, feature paranormal, magic, fantasy, something that does not exist in our world. The plots and setting of Clark and Hawthorne books can take place in our world, which I really like as a change. Icing on the Lake is about a girl, Kirsten, who has moved in with her sister for a month to help out. Then Sean comes along, the ice rink police man, shoveling man and hockey man. Sean also has a brother, Conor, the ice rink police man, shoveling man, bakery man and grocery store man. Who does Kirsten fall for? Hats and mittens off, it's time to ice around this teen romance book. There really isn't much I can say about this book, considering its size. It took me a couple of hour's to read. It' plot followed the typical outline these types of books generally follow. Here's what I mean: 1) Features a girl who is either away somewhere or doing something (amusement park, hotel, wedding, skating, etc.) 2) Generally features 2 boys (typically ones that the girl is interested in) 3) The girl always (sometimes) falls for the wrong one, or if there is one guy she falls for him but something happens to their relationship 4) The girl and guy (which ever scenario) breaks up 5) They get back together and the end Confusing? Yeah, if you haven't read these types of books then this outline wouldn't make any sense. I'm hoping though, at least, it does just a little. To explain more generally, these books are about cheesy teenagers trying to figure themselves out. It's cheesy teen love, basically. The writing has teenager written all over it (excuse the pun.) The plot is usually cheesy too. Too much cheese? Well they are cheesy. But I like cheesy as a change. Cheesy is funny and cute. Thus, I will use cheese one more time to sum up the overall feeling of this book, cheesy (but good cheesy.) If you like to read cheesy teen romance from time to time, then this book is for you. If not, well steer clear 'cause you'll end up hating this. My rating: 4 curly pig tails Cheesy romance and ice skates, -Angela

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it! I thought this book was soooo good. I couldn't stop reading it. I wish it never ended. I definitely want to know what happened next with Kirsten and the boy she chose. It makes me want to grab my guy and go skating/other winter activities then cuddle by a warm fire with hot chocolate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Icing on the lake ♥ This book just makes me smile! I thought it would be one of thoes shallow, cheezy, waste-of-a-time books you tend to find every now and then. But it wasnt. Im not much for the romance books but this one was funny, charming and the characters are so relatable! Catherine Clark really knows how to get into the mind of a confused teenage girl! and she sounds like shes been through some experience comming from her writing. I really liked this book and totally recomend it (:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good, I would have loved the book even more if it had been set on a lake in CANADA! Regardless, the book was cute, good, with a bit of a twist with Connor and Sean. I finished it in one night. I reccommend it! =]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a must read!!!! When I started reading this book I never thought that it would be as exciting as I thought. But when you get into the book your mind changes quickly. This book is funny and romantic. It's so sweet to read about two typical teenagers who like each other who are trying to show their feelings for one another. There is a bit of a conflict in the book but it resolves to a really good ending. I would definitevely recommend this book to readers who love romance with a mix of comedy. I my opinion this is a must read. I loved it!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty good I really liked the beginning of this book, and I enjoyed most of the story until the end. I felt like the end was a but of a let down and it was kind of predictable. Over all thou, I thought the book was pretty good.
