Now a USA TODAY bestseller!

Casey knows the truth. But it won’t set her free.

Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore.

But what is the truthThat’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Casey Cox doesn’t fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan’s skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn’t guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan’s damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices: the girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

Customer Reviews of If I Run

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Plot and Two Head Strong Characters If you have a full day ahead of you, do not pick up this book. As soon as you read the first page you will not be able to put it down. Not only is the main character on the run but she seems to find trouble wherever she goes, which makes for an excellent read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Set Up! I received a free ecopy of this book from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. Casey Cox has never believed that her father committed suicide when she was 12 years old and now, her best friend Brent, was helping her research to prove that it was murder. Suddenly, Brent is killed. Casey finds him, tries to resuscitate him, and only succeeds in covering herself in blood and leaving her DNA all over the crime scene. She's been set up! And the local police investigating Brent's death are the same one she believes covered up the investigation of her father's death. Dylan Roberts has just returned from the Middle East, a soldier with PTSD trying to put his life back together. He and Brent had been really close in school and his army background with Criminal Investigations Division make it natural for Brent's parents to hire Dylan to bring back his killer: Casey Cox. Each of our protagonists alternate telling their own stories as their lives begin to intersect. Casey doesn't really believe in God although she's pulled toward praying for his help; Dylan has a strong belief and has chosen a Christian psychiatrist to help him through his PTSD. As Dylan starts his investigation, he begins to feel as though the police who are co-operating with him are steering him where they want him to go. Too many things don't add up and he starts researching Casey to get into her head and try to discover if she's a psychopathic killer or an innocent patsy. Casey has to learn fast how to change her identity and cover her tracks as she tries to disappear. When she learns what Brent found out, she knows she can't trust the police but circumstances put her in the limelight and she's on the run again. This story was tense right from the start and never let up. Even though I knew that it was the first of a trilogy, when I turned over that last page I was totally caught off guard. This is a great thriller, full of realistic situations, modern technology, and so many surprises. It also has some amazing characters with great faith in God and a quiet, persuasive way of proving His promises. It is probably one of the best thrillers I've read since beginning my blog and I can't wait for the next instalment. Another terrific book from Terri Blackstock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I absolutely love authors who write smart characters! "If I Run" by Terri Blackstock was published February 16, 2016 so it's available for immediate download. This was a really compelling read and I, without reservation, recommend it. It's a strong four out of five. The only reason it lost a star is the ending is a cliffhanger and I was left wanting more. Here's a short synopsis. Casey Cox has a problem. She just found her best friend murdered in his foyer. Now she's on the run for her life and freedom. The police think she did it, her DNA is all over the crime scene. She tried to revive her friend to no avail and now it looks like she murdered him. When Dylan Roberts, a private investigator hired by the dead man's family is sent to track down Casey, he starts questioning all the evidence the police claim proves Casey's guilt. Dylan asks himself who's lying here and if he continues tracking the suspect, is he putting her life in danger from the real killer? Or is Casey the real killer? "If I Run" is an excellent thriller that shows the reader just how smart one has to be to run from the law. The author pits Casey's smarts against Dylan's. Both characters are well fleshed out and it's exciting to see the play of one person's intelligence against another's. Terri Blackstock makes is crystal clear that to run successfully you have to think ten steps ahead. I loved trying to outthink Casey's pursuers and see if I could predict what Casey would do next to stay one step ahead. As I mentioned in the first paragraph, there's a cliffhanger at the end of this mystery. You're gonna want to read the next book by Terri Blackstock. Let's hope she writes fast as I want to know what's next for her excellently rendered characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intensely compelling So intense my heart was hammering all the way through the read. The present tense, first person point of view from both Casey and Dylan's perspectives made this an even edgier read. I usually don't like reading books in present tense (I see vs I saw) but boy, did it work in If I Run. Catapulted me right into the hero/heroine's frame of mind and I lived each excruciating second right along with them. And I do mean excruciating. The tension is unbelievable. Riveting from the very fist sentence: "There's blood on the bottom of my shoes." And I was hooked -- totally engaged in Casey's story. I mean reading If I Run made me so tense I had to consciously unclench my jaw. A lot. I became so absorbed in Casey's plight that it ceased to be a story. It was like real life playing out right before my eyes only I was helpless to offer assistance. I love Casey. And I love how we get to know her. We recognize her tenacity and strength of will, her intelligence and determination not to mention her vulnerability and deeply rooted sorrow from reading her scenes. But we also discover Casey through the eyes of Dylan as he masterfully works a case and develops a profile. Trouble is, the more he discovers about Casey, the more he realizes her personality doesn't jive with that of a ruthless killer. Dylan is quite the complex character as well. A criminal investigator for the Army forced to leave his job because of PTSD issues. He's hired by his murdered friend's family to find Casey and bring her to justice. A faith-filled man, honest and compassionate, he struggles with the investigation as he learns more about Casey and her family. A compelling subplot chock-full of it's own suspense and an uplifting faith thread make this book over-the-top stupendous. If you liked the movie The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford, you will love this book. But beware...Casey's troubles aren't over yet. She is still very much on the run and Dylan is in pursuit...of real justice this time. I've looked high and low on the Internet for information on when the next book in this series comes out but to no avail. I will be shatteringly distraught if I have to wait a whole year for book two. Honestly, I am not someone to pick favourites, but if I'm asked in December what my favourite books of 2016 are, If I Run would be on that list. At the very top. And yes, I can say that even though there are still 11 months worth of new releases to read. It's simply that good. My thanks to the publisher and Litfuse Publicity Group for providing me with a copy of this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Guilty I love Terri Blackstock’s books, and If I Run is no exception, although the ending did leave me with hope of another book. What would you do if you entered your friend’s home and saw him covered in blood? A knife protruding from him? Probably the same as Casey did, she tried to give him CPR, checked his pulse, pulled out the knife, and tracked her shoe prints all over the crime scene. Of course, she left her DNA there, and took the knife with her. When her car is later found with the weapon in it, whom do you think the police and public think committed the murder? Now we follow Casey on the run, and was it a mistake to run? As we go deeper and deeper into this story you begin to understand her reasoning. What a smart girl Casey is and seems to always be two steps ahead of those who are following her. Can she get safely away and make a new life for herself? She loves her mother and her sister, how do you give up family. My heart cried for her and the injustice that is happening, and what compassion she shows her fellow humans, not the heart of a murderer. Once you pick this book up you won’t want to put it down until the last page is turned, and then you will be looking and hoping soon for another book, don’t miss this, you won’t regret it! I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.
