If you give a cat a cupcake, he'll ask for some sprinkles to go with it. When you give him the sprinkles, he might spill some on the floor. Cleaning up will make him hot, so you'll give him a bathing suit . . .

Written in the tradition of the bestselling If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond's newest story will show everyone that Cat is where it's at!

Laura Numeroff is the author of many books for young readers in addition to the If You Give . . . series, including The Chicken Sisters and Laura Numeroff's 10-Step Guide To Living With Your Monster. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Series!! Cute and comical! Love that it teaches action/reaction to children... the kids are always amused by what the featured animal will ask for next!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the If You Give series This is another offering in the If You Give series. It's not meant to be taken too seriously and is really cute and fun for parents and kids. I like that it demonstrates action/reaction thinking and cause/effect but in a really accessible way for young kids.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from If You Give a Cat a Cupcake (If You Give...) by Laura Joffe Numeroff, Felicia Bond (Illustrator) In Laura Numeroff's If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, a kind young girl offers a cat a cupcake. Not satisfied, the cat wants some sprinkles to go with it. When he spills them on the floor and has to sweep them up, he gets hot and is put into a bathing suit and taken to the beach. Before she knows it, the girl has taken him to the gym, a karate class, rock climbing, boat rowing, on a merry-go-round ride, the science museum, and finally back home. The sand emptied from his shoes reminds him of sprinkles, and, of course, he's going to need a cupcake to go with them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute series of books The "If you give a..." series of books is very cute. My daughter and I read these books every night, this being one of her favourites because we have a black and white cat. These stories by Numeroff are all very similar in that the animal in the book leads its owner on a series of interesting events. It is fun to see what the animal wants to do next. The illustrations are also wonderful which they help to tell the story and encourage a child's imagination to grow. Really enjoy these books!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Numeroff continues to please The joy of the "If you give..." books is in the silliness. If you give the cat a cupcake, he'll need sprinkles, which soon leads to all manner of hilarious "logic" on behalf of the cat, who - like the other books in Numeroff's fun series - comes back round to wanting another cupcake. These books have great illustrations, a really fun sense of whimsical humour to them, and every time I have read them to children who know the story, half the fun for the child is to call out what comes next. Happily caught since "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," I continue to enjoy Numeroff's books, and recommend them for parents who are looking for something interactive and fun.
