Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful words and beautiful illustrations! 4.5 stars This is a picture book/book of poetry that celebrates the North American prairies. The poetry describes the sun, the wind, the grass, the snow and more. David Bouchard went to school in the same Southern Saskatchewan town as I did, and the words really bring the place back to life, as do the amazing illustrations, which look just like it! This book brought back all those memories, so vividly, between the poetry and the illustrations. It's a beautiful book that describes it all perfectly - beautiful words and beautiful illustrations!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cherished memories I absolutely loved this book! I grew up in the middle of the prairies with 4 brothers and sisters in the 50's and 60's when times seemed so much simpler. Every verse and picture is this wonderful book brings back memories, and now my grandchildren are reading it and loving it also!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Strikes a cord!" I was first introduced to this wonderful book while living in BC by a gal originally from AB. I cried the first time I read it; I grew up in SK. Several years later when my grandmother was quite ill and confined to bed I would call her up and read a few pages. She of course was born and raised in SK and could relate as much as I could. She looked forward to my weekly phone calls and readings. This book shall forever remain special to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heartwarming but Handnumbing! What a beautiful work. As I moved through the book, memories of harsh winters came rushing out into the fore. Though it warmed me inside, it reminded me of days when we'd fierce snowstorms explore.
