Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, military-engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer. His genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination". He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I only knew Leonardo da Vinci as the painter of the world’s most famous and admired "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper" paintings. I also wanted to learn more about him and his life and this book provided me all the things about Leonardo that I did not know. I am amazed how a famous master like Da Vinci received no formal education beyond basic reading, writing and math. It was interesting to learn that his portraits were sending messages. That is what separated the master from the greats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from must read I have had the chance to view some of Leonardo Da Vinci's work while traveling and as always, I am always inspired by his work. However it wasn't until recently that I became interested in his other works. This book allowed me to see another side of the artist and I think it's so cool how talented he was outside the realm of art. If you are a fan, this is a good summary of his engineering and skills as an inventor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice book This book has everything well organized in a easy manner. You get a nice introduction that covers the person, the town where he was from and his mentors. In case you didn't know Leonardo was from Vinci hence Leonardo Da Vinci. Either way, the book covers his manuscripts, hsi sciences, inventions, art, engineering and more. The whole collection of his works are not included otherwise the book would be huge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Interesting Book, This book helped my understand Leonardo better and gave me ideas about how to learn more about him. I knew some things about Leonardo—but I didn’t realize that he was so prolific. This book has some very interesting information. The skills of observation that da Vinci possessed allowed him to see a great many things at a depth that most people do not. To draw something so accurately requires such attention to details that most people are just unable to grasp. One other thing that this book highlights is da Vinci’s curious and inquisitive mind. The author believes that if we could look at the world in the same way Leonardo did we would be able to accomplish much more.
