In Immortal: Love Stories With Bite, edited by New York Times bestselling author of the House of Night series, P.C. Cast, seven of today’s most popular YA vampire and contemporary fantasy authors offer new short stories that prove when you’re immortal, true love really is forever.

Rachel Caine (the Morganville Vampires series) revisits the setting of her popular series, where the vampires are in charge and love is a risky endeavor, even when it comes to your own family

Cynthia Leitich Smith (Tantalize) gives us a love triangle between a vampire, a ghost and a human girl, in which none of them are who or what they seem

Claudia Gray (Evernight) takes us into the world of her Evernight series, in which a pre–Civil War courtesan-to-be is courted by a pale, fair-haired man whose attentions are too dangerous to spurn, in more ways than one

Richelle Mead (the Vampire Academy series) brings us the tale of a young vampire on the run from the rest of her kind, and the human boy who provides the getaway car, as well as a reason to keep running

Nancy Holder (the Wicked series, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) immerses us in a post-apocalyptic New York where two best friends are forced to make a choice that may kill them both

Kristin Cast (the House of Night series) introduces us to a new kind of vampire: one with roots in Greek mythology, and the power to alter space and time to save the girl he's meant to love

Rachel Vincent (the Soul Screamers series) explores a new corner of her series with the story of aleanan sidhe capable of inspiring the musician she loves to new creative heights, or draining him, and his talent, dry

And Tanith Lee (Black Unicorn) shows us what happens when a bright young woman with some supernatural savvy encounters a misguided (but gorgeous) young vampire

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love stories with bite So I was very excited to read this book because of the big names. Claudia grey(evernight) Richelle mead(vampire academy) Rachel vincent(my soul to take) and so on. I have named these authors because they were the only one's who had a story really worth reading. I like all of these authors and would never say they arn't good because they are but when it comes to short stories alot of them bite the big one! The first story amber smoke is by kristen cast. It is about jenna,a girl who is having a serious case of deja vu. She wakes up after a nap get ready for a party, car won't start, takes the bus and meets a stranger who says something to her and bamm she is in bed again. Dazed and confuesed jenna goes through the routine again this time talking to the stranger and really seeing him for the first time. Alek is tall dark and gorgeous, and a vampire sort of. He has to help her learn the ropes and show her the things that are wrong in her life before its to late, and all the while they fall in love. The second story blue moon by richelle mead, is my favourite. Meet lucy, a vampire who is on the run from her family and guardian, she has no where to go and hide out because her family is famous and there is a reward for her. While hiding she bumps into nathan, a bouncer at a club(owned by her father no less) and asks for his help. He is unaware of who she is so he helps her out for a price of course. To leave the limits humans must show a purple badge in order to pass so nathan brings lucy to a place to make her "more human" so her can pass with him. She changes her hair, her eye color and gets a little tanned. Before they leave, the people helping them rat them out so they are on the run again but with everything she needs to excape. When she finally arrives at the safe house she realizes that these people arn't as nice as they seem. Lucy and nathan must choose what to do before their time is up,but how do you choose a side when everyone is out to get you? Free is by claudia grey. It takes place in new orleans in 1841 when people of colour were slaves or the pretty ones are white mens toys. Patrice is one of the pretty ones, set to go to the ball and display herself so a young wealthy white man can basically bid for her. She doesn't want to go because she is in love with amos, a man of coloul,an exslave turned blacksmith. She ends up going because of a promise amos made, saying he would come to her tonight and they would become lovers. Anxious to get home patrice is very rude and withdrawn to all the suitors until she meets julien larroux. Young relatively good looking she is intrigued by him as he is with her. After talking to mr.larroux for awhile she makes her grand excape, but on the way thinking there is something strange, not quite right about him,but doesn't want to think to much because her love amos is on the way just after midnight to climb up the balcony and take away her virtue. Amos never shows up and the next time patrice sees julien larroux she finds out just what he is. This is just a taste of the stories in the book, for I don't want to give much away. I would say if your looking for a filler inbetween books then pick it up. If you are a fan of the three authors I just mentioned then deffinatly get this book, otherwise it's just like any other book of short stories. Love stories with bite, without the bite.
