Rated 3 out of 5 by from hair-raising My daughter finds the stories both scary and enjoyable. A book to go back to again and again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Childhood Favourite (First Reviewed on GoodReads) I remember loving this book as a kid and it's pretty awesome 18 years later. All the stories are pretty fun with some old ones you may know already and some new ones(The Girl with the Green Ribbon is still my favourite.). I feel it would best be read outloud and around Halloween to get the real creep factor in full effect. I only give it four stars because I wish it was longer and the two stories were pretty throwaway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nostalgic! Simply a wonderful classic. I remember in elementary when my teacher read this on a Halloween day and it just stuck with me growing up. This book would randomly pop into my head, so I decided to search for it and found it! I ordered a copy so I could pass on Alvin Schwartz legacy, what an amazing author. I can't wait to read this to my nephews, i'm sure they will love it as much as I did!

From Our Editors

"Now all second graders have their own collection of spooky stories--seven traditional tales retold in simple language. . . . The colorfully dark illustrations add a comic touch. Not a ghost of a chance of keeping this one on the shelves".--School Library Journal. Three-color illustrations. ALA Notable Children's Book
