Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fun, but not exactly amazing. A good autobiography if you like her brand & her story behind it. Wouldn't go out of my way for it. Wanna save some time? Watch the special on Netflix.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mad Respect I learned a lot about this Woman. She deserves everything she's worked for. I didn't have any expectations before reading this and I'm very glad I did. Yes it's not really a "guide" but you can't say you didn't learn anything from it. I like her encouraging story.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad This is more of an autobiography than a guide. Interesting read nevertheless.

I don't know how much she actually understands but it is fun for both of us. Beautiful coffee table book and a beautiful gift.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok read. This book was a quick and easy read. I found it inspirational but I wouldn't say it's a guide on how to start a business.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very well written, funny book! I am a huge fan of the fashion NastyGal sells. Sophia Amoruso is the founder and creator of it. When I heard about how she started the company, I was amazed at how it all happened and how successful it became given the situations she had been in when she was younger. I knew I had to read more about her story when I heard that she was writing about it in a book format. The book is extremely well written and has a funny, raw, unfiltered flare to it. It is also very inspiring because she writes directly to the readers and offers the input and hints that she has learned in her life. I would recommend this book to fashion lovers, to people who like inspirational true stories, and to people who want to get lost in a story that proves anything can happen, know matter where you come from or no matter what hardships you've been through.

Date published: 2017-07-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good read Interesting read about the start of Nasty Gal. This isn't a guide to starting your own business, as mentioned by others, it's more of an autobiography. However there are useful tips and insights throughout the book!
Date published: 2017-07-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Read. Funny. Real. I'll admit, I had no idea who Sophia Amoruso was before I looked at this book; but after reading an online biography on her I was very interested to see her life and how she got to where she is today. I truly had no expectations. However Amoruso is witty and tells it like it is: she does not want to be a role model and she does an amazing job channeling and speaking to individuals who do not fit into the societal norm. It's an easy read. Some parts are funny and the pictures are a very nice touch!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from autobiography not a guide The book is an overview of her life with little value into how to build an empire. Perfect for a high school student who does not know how to write a resume.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun read! Sophia Amoruso shares her experiences of starting a business. She writes incredibly well and is quite funny. As a fan of her brand, NastyGal, and of her story in general, it was so fun to read the details of her story and her life. A great, witty, easy read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who doesn't love this book. This book is awesome! Yes it's more of a biography but i like how relatable it is. She was just a normal girl who made it big which is awesome for all of us trying to do our own thing and be creative and that's what i love about this book. She's also a misfit which i think a lot of can relate to if you don't conform to the norms. LOVE!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok I am really into non-fiction and love a good female success story but some parts of this seemed a little too embellished. If you read it with a grain of salt, and don't look too deep for direction or inspiration I think it's okay but it's not something I'll keep coming back to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome read for young gals everywhere Love Sophia Amoruso and what she stands for. This book is great for young women who are worried or unsure about what they want to do with their lives. The possibilities are endless, and passion is so important. Sophia proves this to be true in #GirlBoss!
Date published: 2017-05-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy read I read this book to see what all the hype was about since I didn't even know who this woman was until this book came out. An interesting read though about her journey and struggles to the top. All that stealing she did though & then making money off the stolen merchandise is just wrong and I wouldn't label her as a role model or an inspiration by any means.
Date published: 2017-05-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved This! I loved reading this book. It was written in a fun really personable way, making it easily relatable yet funny. Definitely motivates you to become your own boss if you were already thinking towards it. Also a new series on Netflix as come relating to this book !
Date published: 2017-05-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really enjoyed it! After reading this I just thought Sophia Amoruso was just the raddest chick! I saw a review said this book was an autobiography versus advice... what's wrong with that? I didn't think it was trying to be a guide. I took it to be, and found, it is the story of how she began her business and if you want to take away from beneficial advice that is up to you.
Date published: 2017-04-24
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A great Book! I am happy I invested in this book. If you love knowing how the author received such a success then you should definitely read this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just No! I had really high hoped when going into this book, but was sorely disappointed. This book was more of a memoir and pat on the back for the author than any type of advice book on business. Any advice given in this book will appeal to a very small niche of people and isn't particularly helpful at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fascinating! This book is an amazing story of nothing to something. Way to go! Very inspiring for all of the ladies who have been told they cannot achieve greatness, simply because they are female.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Opened my mind! As a "nice girl" I was a little bit apprehensive about a lot of suggestions in this book, and quite frankly much of it wasn't relevant to me (at least yet -- I'm a young professional, just starting out). That being said, what did apply from this book applied in a BIG way. It's changed how I communicate and portray myself. I keep her lessons in the back of my mind at every meeting or professional event I'm at and I do find that I have become more confident as a result. Her aggressive writing style can seem kind of intimidated while reading it, I actually felt embarrassed reading some of it at some points, but she certainly gets her point across. It's not really a fun read, but it's worth the read. I've recommended this book to friends of mine who are also starting out and they've felt the same way about it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inspiring The book can inspire! But I think the hype was a little bit too strong for this one. It does have some great ideas and views, however I don't think I will ever read it again. It was interesting, but just wasn't what I was expecting from it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Honest & Funny An honest, funny and simple take on how she succeeded in the big bad world. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Honesty to its finest ! #GIRLBOSS was as honest as Sophia Amoruso diary! Loved how she presented her story. Her best and bad moments as well as the struggle she faces yet being appreciative of it all. But in every chapter there is a lesson to be learned. This definitely inspired me to work towards becoming a brave, bold woman. Thank you for your honesty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is time I get out of my own way! Each time I express a dream my husband's response is always to go for it. My quick response is something like "no, I can't" or "I won't get in"; basically any argument regarding failure. He is always perplexed by my response. I get frustrated. Then he saw the authors interviewed on Charlie Rose. The next day he told me he finally understood my response and suggested I read this book. Since I literally never give up an opportunity to go to Chapters it didn't take any additional prodding. I had read "Lean In" when it came out. Gave me lots of info on why I made choices along the way but really nothing I felt I could do to change where I am now, but lots of information to help my daughter as she starts out. That changed when I read "The Confidence Code". I get me, my husband gets me and I have a handle on what I do to myself every day. I work with a talented and capable group of woman, and on my way to a meeting with them I stopped at their local Indigo and bought them each a copy. I hope they read it. There is one man in the group - I gave him a copy as well. My boys will get a copy too - lots of info for men. And as men with women in their lives it sheds a little more light on some of our confounding ways. As for me, I am starting to change my daily thought patterns and just this past week I sent an email to request information on a program I am interested in taking. Still scared, still pretty sure I won't get in. Honestly, my biggest roadblock for the past 3 decades has been me. That email is my first attempt to push the roadblock away. It will take lots of pushes I am sure - but it is time to get out of my own way. Thank you to the authors for writing an interesting book that is informative and approachable. Some science, but even that is easily digestible. They may never know but someday when I thank my family in the forward of my PhD dissertation I will absolutely add their names.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy read, fun & inspiring I honestly had no expectations for this book when I pre-ordered it. I purchased this book on a whim because, being a fan & huge shop-a-holic of the Nastygal online store, I was naturally curious as to the story behind the coming of such a successful business. While Sophia expresses she doesn't intend/nor want to be a role model, this book is completely light hearted and motivating. Really speaks to the young women out there who don't necessarily fall into the "mould". A great read!
