Bestselling author Karma Brown is back with a morally infused and emotionally riveting exploration of one woman's guilt over an unexpected—yet avoidable—tragedy

Meg Pepper has a fulfilling career and a happy family. Most days she's able to keep it all together and glide through life. But then, in one unalterable moment, everything changes.

After school pickup one day, she stops her car to wave a teenage boy across the streetjust as another car comes hurtling down the road and slams into him.

Meg can't help but blame herself for her role in this horrific disaster. Full of remorse, she throws herself into helping the boy's family as he rehabs from his injuries. But the more Meg tries to absolve herself, the more she alienates her own family—and the more she finds herself being drawn to the boy's father.

Soon Meg's picture-perfect life is unravelling before her eyes. As the painful secrets she's been burying bubble dangerously close to the surface, she will have to decide: Can she forgive herself, or will she risk losing everything she holds dear to her heart?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a page turner In the blink of an eye lives are changed after an accident and although the story line is heart wrenching, I was not drawn into the book as I expected to be. The book was an easy read but not intriguing or interesting enough to recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great novel! This book is an easy read but is very relatable and makes one realize how life and change so quickly. It made me be a bit more aware of people around me. Great read!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An Easy, Okay Read This book was just okay for me. Basically the only thing that happens is right in the beginning of this book and then it is all very slow and linear from that point on. Although the theme of this book was something we can all learn from, this book was just so so for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Had a hard time putting down the novel

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This could have happened in your neighbourhood! This is a huge departure from her other books. No ugly cries in public for the reader. Yet, many scenes were uncomfortable to read because the characters can be anyone in your neighborhood or at your kids’ school. It had me people watching more at the playground after school. Because of how relatable the story is I couldn’t stop reading! “What if..?” is a question we can ask in any situation one might find themselves in childhood or as adults. I loved the unconventional ending so much! It is a great book to kick off summer reading. Be sure to save time for the revealing interview at the end of the book. If you haven’t already, check out her other books too! #plumreview
