about

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underrated A beautiful book that should have received more renown. I found the portrayal of mental illness realistic and sympathetic, without being cloying. The main character is ambiguously portrayed, until the mystery is unwound. Even then, should she have our complete sympathy? The writing was outstanding. I do not know why this book did not receive any awards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty Good Not bad. I really lliked it - except one thing. The only issue I had with this book is that the author, in what I assume was an attempt to bring a little reality to the story, would vividly and in the most grotesque detail describe people doings things like going to the bathroom. It completely took me out of the story, and it happened often enough to make it an issue for me. Which is too bad, 'cause otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay A romp through the Canadian wilderness. Liked how it included the Frank slide. Got the feeling the writer shows great promise and will write a better book. Some interesting characterizations.
