The Indigo Book Box: Angie Thomas

Will Bri be able to bust through people’s expectations, poverty’s grip and a menacing public image to become one of the greatest rappers of all time?

This Indigo Book Box celebrates Angie Thomas’ highly anticipated second novel On the Come Up, the power of going after your dreams, and understanding there’s a price to pay for the freedom of speech. This story takes place in the same world as her award-winning debut novel, The Hate U Give.

This exclusive, limited edition Indigo Book Box contains:

  • Your own copy of On the Come Up signed by the author
  • A letter from Angie Thomas
  • A microphone-shaped enamel pin – in a discreet size that lets you stand for speaking your truth when surrounded by those who can’t hear it
  • Your exclusive On the Come Up book sleeve featuring Bri’s kicks, her necklace, and a mic – to protect your novel while it’s in your bag. Crafted in cotton, each sleeve may feature slight variance in colour and density, kind of like the way rhymes can sound at different venues.

Limited quantities are available. It’s the ultimate book package – delivered straight to your mailbox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing book in love with the sleeve This box recently arrived and I could not be more happy with it. The pin has great detail. And now I kinda want indigo to make their own line of Book Sleeves because I’m in LOVE with it. It fits a variety of sizes and feels like such good quality. But of course. None of that compares to the incredible book. I’ve been in love with Angie Thomas’ work since I read The Hate U Give. Her writing style is truly unique and she creates characters that are so easy to both realtor to and fall in love with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Book + Perfect Book Box! This was a great book box. The Book was phenomenal, and I am absolutely obsessed with the book sleeve. The enamel pin is a cute addition to my collection, and it is always nice to have a letter from an author I admire so much. Review for the book below: It’s hard to follow a book as incredible as The Hate U Give - I imagine the pressure Angie Thomas was under was huge, but holy cow, did she deliver! On the Come Up is a phenomenal read. Powerful, emotional, and so so *real*. With Garden Heights, Angie Thomas has created a nuanced and complex community with so many compelling characters & such a rich history, and present. With Bri, Angie Thomas has written a young, passionate, outspoken, fierce & fearless hero. One who makes mistakes, and makes bad decisions. One who isn’t perfect. One who is complicated and compelling, and well thought out. Bri is so real and so authentic, you can’t help but fall in love with her. Not to compare the two too much, but Starr was this incredibly thoughtful, smart, passionate, and easy to love hero. Bri though isn’t the perfect hero. She’s messy, she’s angry, she’s fierce, she’s stubborn, and she makes mistakes. She’s someone you actually know. Although both Starr and Bri are phenomenal young women and role models - On the Come Up felt like a more character driven story (while also exploring cultural, Social, and systemic issues). Hip hop heads and young readers alike will connect with this book, with Bri, and with the incredible supporting cast of characters. Angie Thomas is an incredible voice in literature, and I absolutely cannot wait for what is sure to (continue to) be an amazing literary career. This book was fantastic. Electric. Unforgettable. Unputdownable. A must read. #IndigoEmployee
