Innocent As Sin Cd is rated 3 out of 5 by 3.

Kayla Shaw is a smart and capable private banker in Arizona. Rand McCree is a haunted man painting landscapes in the Pacific Northwest, burning with a need for answers. They are two strangers with nothing in common—until their lives entwine . . . and explode.

Everything changes for Kayla as she barely escapes a kidnapping attempt and finds herself accused of a shocking crime: the illegal laundering of hundreds of millions of dollars. Damned by lies and false "evidence," she is trapped. After five agonizing years, Rand has finally been offered the name of his twin brother's murderer. Hungry for vengeance, he accepts a job with St. Kilda Consulting that will place him in the killer's orbit . . . and tantalizingly close to Kayla Shaw, who has been targeted as the killer's next victim. Since she can't turn to the police, who believe she's guilty as sin, she must place her life in Rand McCree's hands.

Suspicious of one another, needing one another, they are two against the world as the violence of the past erupts in the present. And now innocence alone will not be enough to keep Kayla Shaw alive . . .

Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good story, lots of peripheral information The plot about Kayla Shaw who as a private banker, gets maneuvered into doing questionable things for a client who turns out to be a crook, and then has to try to avoid jail from the IRS, or, worse, death as her "client" decides she's a loose end, is a good one. The story moves quickly, there's plenty of excitement, and, of course, there's the growing attraction between Kayla and Rand, the agent of the mysterious St. Kilda Consulting, who, for his own personal reasons, has a vested interest in helping Kayla - or, more accurately, in nailing her bad guy client who's trying to blackmail Kayla in continuing to make questionable banking transactions on his behalf. But the book also gives you interesting information about the state of Arizona, where the story mainly takes place. I found the descriptions of the politics, the art, the history and the demographics of Arizona that were sprinkled through the book to be most intriguing, and I have a friend who lives there who confirmed that all of that info was accurate. So that was just an additional layer to the story that kept my interest. I listened to this as an audio book, and the narrator had a good voice with lots of variety for the various characters. As mentioned this is a fast-moving, exciting story that hits all the key aspects one would expect in a Lowell book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Steady Read This is a slow paced, steady novel with not much grit or adventure. If this is your pace, it's a good read. Same old vengeance and innocent bystander type story. Ms. Lowell usually spins a fine tale.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Left Me Wanting More... Innocent as Sin delves into the world of greed and revenge where people will stop at nothing to succeed, whether it is for good or evil. This adventure introduces you to people and places, where the bad guys are so corrupt they are willing to do almost anything to turn a profit and the good guys are so determined to stop them, they are willing to lay their own lives on the line. Centered on an innocent banker and an activist-turned-painter, following the violent death of his twin, this book takes you into the dangerous world of black market criminals who are willing to sacrifice their own families to come out on top. While the feats and actions of this everyday private banker are a little unbelievable in parts, there was enough action and intrigue to hold my attention and spur me onto the next chapter. I would have liked the ending to be a bit more involved as it seemed to be leading up to a dramatic close, but instead ended rather suddenly, leaving me feeling a bit disappointed and wanting more!
