Rated 5 out of 5 by from BUY THIS BOOK I run a home daycare and I give this book to every child when they leave daycare and go to school. I absolutely love this book, with it's fantasy and wonder and life lessons that can be extrapolated into our own world. The illustrations are wonderful and the book is sheer poetry. The only instruction I add to it for my daycare children is" never forget that even when you are grown, there is a red headed woman who will always be there for you and whose door you may always knock upon".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Great Children's book by Neil Gaiman This is hands down my favorite book we have bought for our boys. It has a really great story. I think it has some really good messages for children as well. The illustrations are fantastic. My boys love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful & Charming This book took me completely by surprise. I was expecting something darker, with more of a twist. But Gaiman once again gives us something new and different. On the dust jacket it says it is for 'All Ages', and it really is. It is instructions given as you journey out in life and come back home. It is magical, whimsical, enjoyable and fun. Wonderfully illustrated and written, the words of Gaimen and art of Vess present a single story that complement each other completely.

Editorial Reviews

“A magical, incantatory poem. It could be instructions for a child, a writer, a newly minted adult or an elder. It strikes immediately at the place where stories live and provides a feast of archetypes. ”
