When young, pretty Catherine Bailey meets Lee Brightman, she can't believe her luck. Gorgeous, charismatic Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. But what begins as flattering attention and spontaneous, passionate sex transforms into raging jealousy, and Catherine soon discovers that Lee's good looks hide a dark, violent nature. Disturbed by his controlling behavior, she tries to break it off and is stunned when her friends don't believe her. Isolated and driven into the darkest corner of her world, a desperate Catherine plans a meticulous escape.

Four years later, Lee is behind bars and Catherine—now Cathy—is trying to build a new life in a new city. The trauma of the past still haunts her. Then Stuart Richardson, her attractive new neighbor, moves in. Encouraging her to confront her fears, he sparks unexpected hope and the possibility of love and a normal life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very dark, very violent, very REAL! I usually like books with a darker tone, but man, I literally lost sleep thinking about this book after putting it down each night (which was extremely hard to do). I woke up at 3 in the morning with my brain just going a mile a minute about this story. Extremely well written. Riveting. Scary. Violent. I have had a previous experience with dealing with a stalker, but nothing to the extent of this book. It was hard for me to read what Cathy was going through because I was feeling it right there along with her. I picked this book on a whim, not knowing what to expect, and I was not disappointed. An excellent read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kept me up at night Elizabeth Haynes writes a great first book with Into the Darkest Corner. This is the guy you wish, pray and hope your daughters, your sisters, your friends, never meet, never fall in love with. So perfect in so many ways, he knows how to make you brush off the evil. Perfect book for a evening with a glass of wine and a warm blanket to ward off the dredges of his perfect evilness. Looking forward to her next book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Run to the bookstore! This book was recommended to me by another wonderful author, Chevy Stevens. I stayed away from the tv for 3 nights because I couldn't get my nose out of this book! It's the story of an abused woman, but the way it's written, the tension builds with every chapter. It goes from the past to the present, so we dont know what really happened to her until late in the book. If you want a suspense full book, this is it. Amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Into the Darkest Corner Sure is Dark This was a very intense book and, at times, almost hard to read. However, do not get me wrong, this book was excellent. It was so well done and well written, but the subject matter is dark and there is no way around that. Domestic violence is never an easy subject to tackle. Darkest Corner jumps back and forth between Cathy's past in 2003 and her present in 2007, so we slowly get to see what happened to her to make her so obsessive compulsive. I could barely put this book down and just throoughly enjoyed it, even though it was, at points, disturbing and terrifying.
