It’s Boston, 1919, and the Cast Iron club is packed. On stage, hemopaths—whose “afflicted” blood gives them the ability to create illusions through art—Corinne and Ada have been best friends ever since infamous gangster Johnny Dervish recruited them into his circle. By night they perform for Johnny’s crowds, and by day they con Boston’s elite. When a job goes wrong and Ada is imprisoned, she realizes how precarious their position is. After she escapes, two of the Cast Iron’s hires are shot, and Johnny disappears. With the law closing in, Corinne and Ada are forced to hunt for answers, even as betrayal faces them at every turn. An ideal next read for fans of Libba Bray’s The Diviners.
Destiny Soria graduated from Samford University with a BA in English. For seven months, she backpacked across New Zealand, supporting herself as a travel writer and tour guide in a haunted prison. She now lives and works in Birmingham, Alabama. Iron Cast is her debut novel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addictive I saw this book all over the place and have heard great things about it, thought the magic was unique, and found the book to be physically beautiful. Needless to say, my expectations were high... and they were surpassed! I loved this book from beginning to end. It was just so unique and emotional and charming. I honestly regretted having to put it down and do real life things! The plot was fantastic and suspenseful at more points than I imagined, and the magic that main characters Ada and Corinne used was surprisingly dangerous. The characters were the highlights. Everyone in this small cast was layered and left an impression. I found Gabriel and Saint to be quite interesting and tragic, but there's no question that Ada and Corinne stole the show. I love those girls and would love to read more about their adventures and the deep, familial love they have for each other. The story was written beautifully and I honestly can't stop gushing about it. Definitely glad I decided to move this one up on my TBR pile and give it the time and attention it deserves. Definitely recommended for fans of historical fantasy, sisterhood, and strong female characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Fantastic! I really cannot say enough good things about this book. It's diverse, it's friendship-focused with a hint of romance, and it will leave you on the edge of your seat until the very end. The story itself is so creative and different, and combined with the rich, descriptive writing, it's magical. I had such high hopes for this book, and it did not let me down!
