about

Headstrong American heiress Lillian Bowman has come to England to find an aristocratic husband. Unfortunately, no man is strong enough to tame the stubborn beauty's fierce will. Except, perhaps, the powerful and arrogant Earl of Westcliff—a man Lillian despises more than anyone she's ever met.

Marcus, Lord Westcliff, is famous for his icy English reserve and his supreme self-control. But something about the audacious Lillian drives him mad. Whenever they're in the same room, they can't stop themselves from battling furiously to gain the upper hand.

Then one afternoon, a stunningly sensuous encounter changes everything . . . and Lillian discovers that beneath the earl's reserved façade, he is the passionate and tender lover of her dreams. What neither Westcliff nor Lillian suspect, however, is that a sinister conspiracy threatens to destroy any chance of happiness. After a shocking betrayal endangers Lillian's safety—and possibly her life—will Marcus be able to save her before it's too late?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An all-time favourite! I love this book! The leads are beautifully written, full of quirks and fit together so perfectly the story will stay with you for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another fantastic romance from Lisa Kleypas! I think I might even like Lillian and Marcus a bit more than Annabelle and Simon. Their headbutting was delightful and always entertaining. The Wallflower group/sisterhood warms my heart with their love and dedication to each other, and Daisy increasingly becomes one of my favourites. I'm kind of disappointed with how one character turned out by the end, through some truly abhorrent actions. I had an idea of how I would have liked them to be paired with another character, but that clearly isn't the direction Kleypas is going in. The final events have me quite nervous for the next installment because it already put a bad taste in my mouth

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Series Keeps Getting Better! 4.5 Stars I was very excited to read Westcliff's novel. He is a wonderful hero. Lillian is very opinionated and many readers are bothered by that, but I did not have a problem her. I liked her as a heroine (but there were times when she was very irksome). This series is so addictive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good! A really great follow up to Annabelle's story! I loved the hot and cold sort of attraction between Lillian and Marcus. Their love-you-but-hate-you attitudes could've been too much, but with the bits we found out about Marcus's past and what it meant to him to be close to Lillian, you understand the dance they were doing. Loved seeing Marcus soften up as Lillian plowed her way to his heart

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good This book actually deserves 5 stars, but Lillian really annoyed me for the majority of the story. Westcliff was a great hero though. One of the best LK heroes. This series is just too good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED this! I seriously loved this book. It was phenomenal with awesome characters. The story of Lillian and Westcliff reminded me of Darcy and Elizabeth but it WASN'T a retelling at ALL. It was a wonderfully unique story that had me laughing and crying at certain moments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved this second one of the Wallflowers series. I enjoyed the first book in the series but I think that Lisa Kleypas hit the note with this humorous, emotional, romantic read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot Go Wrong with this Wallflower series Reviewed at Another Look Book Reviews I continue to adore this Wallflower series. It Happened One Autumn is the second book in this series where four wallflower women have banned together to obtain their goal of marriage. The books could be read as stand-alones but I think you would miss the great character references and understanding of their relationships. Lillian and her younger sister, Daisy are having a very hard time fitting in with English ton and securing marriages. Even though they are rich heiresses, they are completely American with their mannerisms and do not fit into the historical aristocratic English ways. They don't know the "rules", they don't know which fork to use and they speak their minds. As much as the men of the peer realm find them amusing, they wouldn't want to be married to either of them. Lillian has witty and sarcastic come backs. I laughed constantly at the things that came our of her mouth. "Oh, well, obviously. I'm a world- renowned temptress." The relationship she has with her sister is one to be envied. They are two peas in a pod. They are mischief makers and even though their mother refers to them as angels, they aren't fooling anyone. Especially their mother. Lillian and Westcliff don't start out on the best of terms but their obvious attraction is apparent to everyone. Westcliff knows he has to eventually marry and for as much thought as he has claimed to thinking about marriage, he really hasn't put much thought into it other than understanding it is a major commitment and that his wife will be of pure peer blood. I don't think that Westcliff had anything against marrying outside of the ton, he just never thought he'd marry outside of the tight circle. Their banter was at times comical as it could be frustrating. He'd try to bully, she'd rebel back. Neither give in so they have a constant battle of wits game going on. Teasers: escape from the bedroom, magic fragrant, the purple-spotted dingy-dipper, drunk in the library on pear brandy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A solid book While this is a solid romance by Kleypas, it was not as good as the other books in this series. Most likely this is due to the characters themselves, while interesting as secondary characters in the other books, by themselves they seems arrogant, cold, and annoying. It Happened One Autumn is the story of Lillian Bowman, an american heiress, looking for a titled husband in England and Lord Westcliff, an English Earl. Westcliff disapproves of Lillian hoydenish ways and Lillian refuses to change or acknowledge any faults in her character. While the plot is well written by Kleypas, the characters are just slightly too much to make is 100% enjoyable. Overall, its a place holder for the other, better, books in the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable I enjoyed this story. There were even a few scenes in this novel that were quite humorous. It highly exceeded the first Wallflower story in my opinion. Lillian is her own person who abides by her own rules and Westcliff has a hard demeanor and is the perfect example of how an aristocrat should act. They are both stubborn. The clash in personality and the passion makes for a great story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A really good read This was the second bood in the series that started with Annabella and Simon's (the first wallflower) which was one of the best I have read from Lisa Kleyas yet. I love Marcus because he was a stiff I don't bend the rules man turned into a romantic lover. This book was really good, and I can't wait for Lisa's third wallflower installment with Evie in it (comes out in Dec.)
