Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Small Book with a Huge Impact Don’t you love Christian Spiritual Growth books that are written by an author who draws you in, shares her story, teaches you what she has learned about God, and becomes a friend in the process? For me, many books by Moody Publishers fit this description, and the latest one I’ve read is no exception. Although small in size, Heather Holleman’s “Seated with Christ: Living Freely in a Culture of Comparison” holds a huge impact in terms of living what she calls a “seated life” in Christ. So, what does a “seated life” mean? Well, a key Scripture for this book is Ephesians 2:6, which states “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Did you catch the verb “seated”? As she explains about herself, Heather is crazy about strong verbs in Scripture. As she read Ephesians 2 one day, the word “seated” seemed to pop out at her and, well, “Seated with Christ” is the result of the pilgrimage that God began to lead her on. We are invited to join her on this journey through the four portions of her book: Take Your Seat; Seated and Set Free; Seated and Surrendered; and Seated and Sent. If you’ve ever wondered if you truly have a place at God’s table, and if so how to claim that seat, this book is for you. With Heather’s honest, personable writing style and the included study questions at the end of each chapter, this is definitely a book that will settle into your heart as you read, and probably re-read, the heart-lifting truth that Jesus truly desires for us to take our seat - right beside Him. I received this book courtesy of Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
