Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the young and young at heart! Sometimes we all need a reminder that it's okay to be uniquely us. I have read this book with children of all ages, but most recently with my Kindergarten children. The bright colours and graphics used in this book draw you in and truly reflect the motto, "it's okay to be different". I recommend this book for the young and the young at heart, even for just a quick pick-me-up on those days when we're pretty hard on ourselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple words, powerful mesages The title, 'It's Okay to be Different', holds a fraction of mesages the book carries. The first page is 'It's okay to be missing a tooth (or two or three).' Boom! It hit me. We can be different in so many ways. 'It's okay to have different moms. It's okay to have different dads. It's okay to have wheels. It's okay to dance by yourself...' With Todd Parr's typical illustration, the book sends out powerful messages.

Editorial Reviews

"[Parr] wisely doesn't zero in on specifics, which would force him to establish what's 'normal.' Instead, he focuses on acceptance and individuality and encourages readers to do the same."-Publisher's Weekly
