In Baghdad the Magnificent reigns Haroun al Plassid, who is the Caliph. There also dwells Iznogoud, who wants to be the Caliph. The irascible Grand Vizier hatches plot after plot to remove his ruler and take his place—melting Djinn, invisibility spell, cursed diamond, voodoo doll… But no amount of cunning or obstinacy can make up for sheer, hilariously bad luck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is the end! Only it isn't. I thought when I started, and even when I got to the last cartoon, that we were about to bid farewell to Iznogoud. However, it turns out that there are least two more books to come, full of further disasters as Iznogoud tries to become Caliph instead of the Caliph. Always good for a laugh, here Iznogoud turns teacher and magician among other things - and fails in everything he tries. Long live Iznogoud!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More fun from the wicked vizier Only Iznogoud, the vizier who wants to be Caliph instead of the Caliph, doesn't seem to have much fun. Every one of his crazy schemes to depose the good Haroun al Plassid comes a cropper in the end. Great fun, and suitably daft drawings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Iznogoud and the Day of Misrule Rather longer stories this time, but our villainous antihero is still trying to get to be Caliph. As always, every attempt is peppered with groanworthy jokes and ends in disaster.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Iznogoud and the Magic Computer Here we go again! More useless attempt by the Grand Vizier Iznogoud to make himself Caliph instead of the Caliph. The joy of the Iznogoud tales is that whatever disaster he brings on his own head, everything is miraculously restored to normal in time for the next one.
