At the edge of the wood lives a maiden called Jorinde, who is more beautiful than other maidens. She and a youth named Joringel, who is just as good-looking as she is, are betrothed to one another. They like to walking in the wood, but one day they get lost there and find themselves beside the witch’s castle…
