The Kama Sutra of Vatsyayana is the classic text on lovemaking and fulfilment in matters of the heart. Written by Hindi philospher Vatsyayana around the third century, it gained a new lease of life when in the 19th century it was translated into English by Sir Richard Burton. While many of the social practices described are now obsolete, the central theme of relationships between the sexes is as relevant today as it ever was and Vatsyayana's observations about behaviour are enduringly perceptive. Candid, racy and illuminating, the Kama Sutra deserves its place as one of the worlds most popular books. Fully illustrated throughout.
