This was Keman's first experience of Toronto's annual Caribbean Carnival. The excited 8 year old and his Mother enjoyed the rituals at the Caribbean celebration, such as picking a flag to wave, the Caribbean influenced foods, dancing, costumes and music. Keman is a young, Black Canadian child with Caribbean roots. 

Yolanda T. Marshall is a business analyst and mother of one based in Canada. She is also a Guyanese born author and poet, who enjoys writing cross genres. After becoming a mom, she was inspired to write her first children''s book, Keman''s First Carnival. Miss Marshall is currently working on her second children''s book. .
