“Over an extraordinary thirty year history, Kripalu Center has been a pioneer in combining authentic yoga with a contemporary Western lifestyle.” —John Abbott, President, Yoga Journal

From the senior teachers of the world-renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health–the largest yoga and retreat center in North America–comes this comprehensive guide to the unique and influential Kripalu method, which emphasizes individual growth over outward perfection of form, making it accessible to people of all ages, fitness levels, and body types.

A Guide to Practice On and Off the Mat

Beginning with step-by-step “experiences” that teach essential body and breath awareness, Kripalu Yoga features fully illustrated routines for beginners and intermediate students , including Kripalu’s easy-to-follow “press point” instructions. For advanced students, there is a broad menu of additional poses to increase strength, flexibility, and challenge.

Far more than an exercise program, Kripalu Yoga also teaches the lifestyle practices and energy techniques that make yoga a powerful catalyst for physical healing, psychological growth, and spiritual awakening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kripalu is a Keeper This book is wonderful in its ability to make yoga accessible to everyone. Kripalu means ‘being compassionate’ in Sanskrit and this title befits this approach to yoga. What is evident throughout the book that what really matters is one’s loving and nurturing attitude towards oneself and to let that inform the practice. It offers practical advice for becoming present and more compassionate. As well, it transmits a wealth of technical information about how to do yoga poses and what routines to follow. Nothing seems intimidating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comprehensive Being a RYT200 teacher for the last three years, I find this book the most comprehensive one about Yoga. The two routines are amazing, only through their practice you realise the benefits of the 5 step Kripalu Yoga. The response of my students to the different practices and teachings is so positive that after reading it I am now convinced to take their teacher training towards my RYT500. The structure of the book layout makes it very useful as a reference book that can be open anywhere anytime and find good advise.
