Dr. Kimberly Donovan's life is in shambles. After her medical ethics are questioned, first her family, then her closeted lover, the Chief of the ER, betray her. Determined to make a fresh start, she flees to California and L.A. Metropolitan Hospital. Dr. Jess McKenna, L.A. Metro's Chief of the ER, gives new meaning to the phrase emotionally guarded, but she has her reasons. When Kim and Jess meet, the attraction is immediate. Emotions Jess has tried to repress for years surface. But her interest in Kim also stirs dark memories. They settle for friendship, determined not to repeat past mistakes, but secretly they both wish things could be different. Will the demons from Jess's past destroy their future before it can even get started? Or will L.A. Metro be a place to not only heal the sick, but to mend wounded hearts?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly enjoyable book! LA Metro is a slow burn romance that takes the time to establish a solid friendship between Kim and Jess; their attraction is there from their first meeting but issues from their past prevent each of them from acting on it. It works well though since it allows them to slowly build trust and open up about past hurts in their personal and professional lives. The fact they both work in a hospital provides the reality of an emergency occurring or pager going off at any time and gives an insight into their skills and personalities at work where the environment is fueled by gossip as much as trauma cases. There is drama both in and out of the hospital as is to be expected but the book is a light and easy read, a page-turner to watch the relationships progress and the secrets unveiled at a steady pace. Supporting characters bring the opportunity for hospital politics, homophobia and other issues to enter into the story threads and they only enrich the overall story. Special mention goes to Thor who is the prime matchmaker for Kim and Jess, and who steals every scene he’s in; he’s a true gem! This book is part of a series and I look forward to reading the others after thoroughly enjoying this one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from L. A. Metro I've read the complete L.A. Metro series and each book has reinforced my opinion that the author is one of the best today. The books have great story lines and just enough sex to cover all bases. Keep writing!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LA Metro I really enjoyed the story and how RJ Nolan dealt with issues that have affected us all in our personal and professional lives. As well how we can cause more damage to young and impressionable young women. We should support each other and let professionals deal with helping us cope with life altering events. Would love a sequel to see how Jessand Kim get on.
