THE FIRST BOOK OF THE SURRENDER TRILOGY

In her sensational Breathless Trilogy, #1 New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks tested the boundaries of desire. In her new trilogy, there’s only one thing left to do: cross them. And never have the consequences of erotic exploration been so irresistibly inviting, so shockingly intimate, and so totally unexpected…

LETTING GO

Josslyn found perfection once, and she knows she’ll never find it again. Now widowed, she seeks the one thing her beloved husband couldn’t give her: dominance. Lonely, searching for an outlet for her grief and wanting only a brief taste of the perfection she once enjoyed, she seeks what she’s looking for at an exclusive club that caters to people indulging in their most hedonistic fantasies. She never imagined that what she’d find would be the one man who’s long been a source of comfort—and secret longing. Her husband’s best friend.

Dash has lived in an untenable position for years: in love with his best friend’s wife but unwilling to act on that attraction. He’d never betray his best friend. And so he’s waited in the wings, offering Joss unconditional support and comfort as she works past her grief, hoping for the day when he can offer her more.

When he finds her in a club devoted to the darker edges of desire, he’s furious because he thinks she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. Until she explains in detail what it is she wants. What she needs. As realization sets in, he is gripped by fierce, unwavering determination. If she wants dominance, he is the only man who will introduce her to that world. He is the only man who will touch her, cherish her…love her. And the only man she’ll ever submit to.

Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a great read. The book was extremely repetitive and not well written. Most passages were long and had no point or didn't add any value to the story. I felt like the writer had no imagination and was copying ideas from other famous books but was making experience in her writing to make the book more interesting or more original.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected Maya Banks was great in other series I have read. This book was too repetitive that at least 12 chapters could have been 2 or 3. Very slow and not what I was expecting. Very disappointed. Too much for too little.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed feelings... I fell head over heels for the description of the book in Maya’s website, I mean who wouldn't? A book about a man that has been in love, for years, with a woman he couldn't have because she was his best friend’s wife, has epic romance written all over it! Maybe my problem with this book was exactly my high expectations. [Warning: this review may contain minor spoilers.] So, Joss lost her husband, Carson, three years ago in a accident and she finally decides to move on with her life or, may I say, her sex life. Anyway, she saw herself as a submissive and had fantasies about being dominated, so she ends up bumping with Dash in her first visit to a BDSM club. And Dash is a dom, of course. Not much of a surprise but that scene was written perfectly. After that moment, I kept getting the feeling the story was going around in circles, it was like the book collapsed. Joss gave in pretty quickly after Dash confessed he always had feelings for her. I mean, your best friend’s husband, who you were never ever attracted to in any way, confesses he always wanted you and suddenly, BAAAM, you’re attracted to him too? It could work if Joss was 16 or so, but not like this. Maybe Dash should have been forced to fight for her a little longer at that point. But then it got worse, even though they jump fast into moving together, Joss spends a lot of her time thinking about her dead husband. I think the only times she didn’t think or mention Carson was when she was having sex with Dash and all this Carson mentions-thoughts were frustrating. And then, Dash, who desperately wanted Joss for years let it all fall down with a conflict that could have definitely been solved when she was at the hospital. The book was well written but I had to remind myself, constantly, that this was a Maya Banks book, it just felt too repetitive to be hers! I hope the next book in this trilogy gets better, I really liked Jensen but I bet Kylie is going to be as annoying in her own book as she was in this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Letting Go I thought this book was a great example for women. A woman who is independent and strong yet willing to allow a man take control. Great depth into this world most are afraid of. I loved the strong characters as well as the truly loving men.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The surrender trilogy Amazing read extremely well written

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pitiful This was a ridiculous book. It had the most bland storyline, boring characters with no personality, and unrealistic conversations that I have EVER read. And this is BDSM for crying out loud! You're pretty much guaranteed at least some excitement. Worse than that was the repetition. It wasn't just that the characters repeated the same words, which they did (if I had to read Dash say "damn" or "pretty little" (insert body part here), or "honey" one more DAMN time...), Maya Banks repeated monologues which were unnecessary in the first place. And not just once, there were the same longwinded proclamations that were in the first chapter all the way until the end. Obviously Maya Banks had nothing to say, and felt that if she continued to repeat all the stupid unnecessary dialogue over and over again then she could pretend to have written a book. What's most offensive about this book is that she has written a ton of books before this one, could've fooled me, it seemed like this was her first time stringing a paragraph together. Letting Go was the first and only book by Maya Banks that I will ever read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Letting Go I love Maya Banks and have read most of her book, some several times, and will pre-order just because of of her name. I found Letting Go slow to start, I realize this was to probably develop characters, story line and lay ground work for the future books. This was one of the few books I skipped to the last chapter to see how it turns out, then continued the book. I am, however, looking forward to Giving In.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eh. It wasn't such a horrible book to read, I am more excited to read the second one because it will be more mysterious than the first. The characters repeat a lot of what they say which bothered me a lot during my reading. Th story itself is so so. Don't have high expectations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Riding on previous successes I enjoyed the Breathless series and bought this book based on that. It was repetitive and not nearly as good. But the worst part, was just when you thought, ok this is going to maybe get better, you turn the page and your at the Epilogue. Complete waste of money. I won't be buying anymore books
