A mass-market paperback edition of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, book two in the classic fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia. This edition features cover art by Cliff Nielsen and interior black-and-white illustrations by the series' original illustrator, Pauline Baynes.

Four adventurous siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie—step through a wardrobe door and into the land of Narnia, a land frozen in eternal winter and enslaved by the power of the White Witch. But when almost all hope is lost, the return of the Great Lion, Aslan, signals a great change . . . and a great sacrifice.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the second book in C. S. Lewis's classic fantasy series, which has been drawing readers of all ages into a magical land with unforgettable characters for over sixty years. This is a stand-alone read, but if you would like to explore more of the Narnian realm, pick up The Horse and His Boy, the third book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Classic The moral lessons presented in this book are pretty advanced for a children's story, but that doesn't mean that it takes away from the wonder of the story at all. It's so whimsical and a fantastic read for all ages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the series. This is perhaps the best known, and my favourite, of the Narnia stories. From talking animals to Father Christmas to an evil Witch, the tale is full of wonder and magic, all of which us innocently accepted by the four young heroes,. This is the story one simply falls into and is there with them, as a silent observer, and yet a part of the story, too. Of course, as a morality tale it is lengthy and complex, but still accessible and meaningful for all ages.

From Our Editors

Just wait until you step into the wonderful world of Narnia. This book is part two of a literary series for kids that shows them they aren't merely beings tolerated in this world. The stories in the Narnia Chronicles remind each kid of his or her self-worth as the young characters travel to a world where they do important works - and do so heroically. In The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy discover a magical and sometimes treacherous world, where they meet and help Aslan the Great Lion.
