Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing journey! Nelson Mandela's autobiography is a truly incredible read. While dense at times it gives you an insight into a man who changed the world and never stopped believing in his own worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! This is the first autobiography I've ever read, as well as my first political book, and it was amazing! Mr. Mandela is extremely sincere about his life and actions but also his view on the conflict in South Africa during his life time. He is truly an inspiring man.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply amazing This is simply the best autobiography I have ever read. Unlike other memoirs/autobiographies, I felt close to Mandela as I was reading.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Indigo Recommended! This book was recommended to me by the staff at my local Indigo- and although I am not a political reader-this book did not disappoint. Having only heard occasional news clips of Mandela, this book exposed the true life-long sacrifice of a man who was committed to an enduring belief that his beloved nation could experience true, collective freedom. An excellent read even for those not current on the international political landscape!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. This book is a must read. Period. Mr. Mandela's stuggles in South Africa were not just historic for his country, but for equality and civil rights around the world. The book is not just a good historical account, but is downright INTERESTING! I could not put it down. I am not eloquent, so I will not go any further in trying to describe this book. Let me just finish by saying this: There are two types of people in this world: Those that have read "Long Walk to Freedom", and those who will read it, hopefully soon. I wish this was on the high-school reading list of every classroom both in Canada, and especially the United States.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Read! I have never been big on reading biographies but this book changed my mind. I liked this book a lot because I never knew too much about Nelson Mandela and his story and they way he tells it is superb. To be honest, the sheer volume scared me away from this book, my sister was the one who pushed me to read it and I'm glad because I couldn't put it down. Try it, I guarantee you'll learn something from it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A story of courage and determination If ever there was a story to give hope and perseverance this is it. A man that spends 27 years in jail for no reason and then has the courage to forgive and get on with the rest of his life… wow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best within us! I read this book because I wanted to learn more about this man I had heard so much about. I could never have expected that it would be such a well written, inspirational, and moving account of the triumph of the human spirit over seemingly insurmountable odds. Make no mistake, this is a compelling TRUE story about the best within us. I wish I could thank him for writing it.
